Author's Notes: I am so happy that there's a miscellaneous TV section over here now. Though I will probably be the only one who actually posts Flash Forward 'fic of any kind…

This is just kind of a spur-of-the-moment short that takes place approximately in the middle of "Double Bill", the episode when Becca goes on the date with Scott and he kisses her and she doesn't like it.

Of course, Flash Forward and the characters of are not mine. I wish that the show would be released on DVD, though…

Scott's lips are chapped.

It's the first thing Becca thinks as he leans into her and just presses his mouth against hers. She closes her eyes and counts seconds—one, two, three, four, five—and then she breaks away after hearing Tucker making a racket in the row of seats behind her.

Later, she tells Maxine about the kiss, how awkward it was and how Scott's mouth felt awful against hers. And, for some reason, she admits that he wasn't her first kiss. Maxine argues that he's her first, "because it was at least five seconds and on the lips. Did he include tongue?"

"No," Becca says, leaning against the sink in the women's restroom.

"Well, it still counts." Maxine smoothes her stick-straight hair down and reapplies a coat of lip gloss. "That other one, well, it doesn't count. Kisses before the age of nine don't count."

That night, Becca lays in bed and thinks of calling Tucker, even though she's fighting with him at the moment. She wonders absently if he remembers it. They were five and playing in the park, laughing and chasing each other in a two-person game of freeze tag. They did that a lot when they were younger. She was frozen that time, and he ran up to her at full speed, then slowed down, and gave her a quick peck on the lips.

It was the kind of thing that always happens with little kids. One kisses the other, and the other chases the first around, screaming and giggling at the same time. It was nothing, really. Every kid gets kissed by a friend of the opposite sex at least once, right? And usually, by the time they're thirteen, they've forgotten about it and they've moved on and started counting their first kiss as the first that lasted at least five seconds. Becca knows she should count the one between Scott as the first, but she can't quite bring herself to.

Every kiss counts. So Becca counts that one Tucker gave her when she was five as the first.
