Author's notes: I've recently begun to revisit my interest in Zelda. I haven't gotten very involved in the Zelda fandom or in reading too many other Zelda fanfics, but another parody fic just inspired me so I decided that I might as well write this and get it out of my system. Don't expect anything else from me for this series. Also, as I haven't played Zelda in quite a long time, I could be incorrect about how the opening to the game goes...

Disclaimer: Zelda is owned by Nintendo and some other people and none of those people are me. Kathryne is a fictional character that is not in any way part of the Zelda series. Although, seeing as how she doesn't exactly fit the qualifications of a 'character', I don't feel like making any claims on her either. She's kind of just there. Thanks goes to the awesome Kaie for Beta-reading this for me!

Kathryne put her Zelda: Ocarina of Time cartridge into her Nintendo 64 to begin what would be exactly the twenty-seventh time she started the quest. She always kept count, just to show her devotion.

Kathryne always had hopes that her devotion would someday amount to… something. She sighed wistfully as she moved a lock of her unwashed, dirty blonde hair away from her greasy face and adjusted her glasses.

She couldn't deny the dreams that she harbored. Somehow she would one day be magically swept into the land of Hyrule, to join Link in his quests and befriend everyone; and someday Link would realize her complete devotion and love for him and…

But she always knew it was impossible. Yet, she read about it in so many stories online. So, maybe….?

She turned her gaze back to the Start screen. She waited hopefully and expectantly for… something.

The start screen just played the music that it normally did and showed Link riding Epona across Hyrule as it always did when it was left unattended for too long. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Kathryne waited. Surely her devotion would shine through and her dreams would come true.

The screen simply said, "Press Start."

Kathryne sighed wistfully again, turned off the TV and went to bed.

The End.
