You can consider this an AU because I'm almost 99 certain that Kakashi's never met Naruto before he was appointed as Team 7's sensei.
Do you call this a drabble? Or a very short story?
Confession: I composed this out of a few drabbles. Please don't be too mad at me. I'll try to write a real story next time.
Title: The Sensei and the Student?
Is Naruto really his Yondaime-sensei? Because he's sure his sensei has never trip on his own feet and fall flat on his face before. Or banged his head on the door and emerge, shouting at the curious (but hostile) onlookers. Not even pouting so petulantly.
Alright, maybe he'd never know a 5 year old Yondaime-sensei. But he didn't think someone so perfect could come from such a disaster (minus the kawaii-ness). He didn't think it was fair at all for such a magnificent being to live in such a clumsy creation.
An angry howl rang painfully in his ears. He winced. Naruto had just step on dog crap. Ouch. How un-Yondaime-sensei-like.
Even if he's ignorant, wouldn't Jiraiya or the Sandaime know how a little Yondaime would act like? Surely, they would know something had gone wrong with Naruto. Or maybe Naruto is just someone else altogether? But he did see those demonic hands crawling out of his sensei's body and locking Kyuubi's soul within. So, it was most certain that the Kyuubi no gaki is the great Yondaime Hokage, wasn't it? Then, why did he find it so hard to believe this?
Maybe it was due to the fact that Naruto was left all alone to fend for himself. To an analyst like himself, if Naruto was indeed his sensei, the Sandaime or Jiraiya or perhaps even some of the elite Jounin would surely be willing to take care of him. And the villagers, they would revel in his presence and look upon him in awe instead of hatred and disdain.
Since nothing made sense, he just kept to the shadows, looking from afar, waiting for this puzzle to unravel so he can decide whether to get to know his sensei once more or keep his silence and walk away.
Naruto loved ramen. So did Yondaime-sensei. That didn't quite prove anything though, because he loved ramen as well when he was really hungry, but too lazy to cook. But no, Yondaime-sensei never whined, not about his burden as the Hokage and definitely not for ramen. Anyway, at the rate that Naruto's inhaling his ramen, he probably won't make it to his tenth birthday.
No way…… he did? Yep, definitely Yondaime-sensei's legendary stubbornness (aka the Never-Say-Die attitude).
Still, that horrible whining…………..
When Naruto befriended Iruka, he wanted to warn the poor kid of Iruka's forced politeness and false smiles. Yet, as time passed, he noticed how genuine those smiles had become and how sincere his love had bloom for Naruto. And how beautiful Naruto's own smile had turn out. So as silent as he'd appear, he backed off.
The Yondaime Hokage was Konoha's genius ninja. So when Naruto was placed under his tutelage and failed miserably in the bell test, he almost tore his hair out in misery. But he thought if Yondaime-sensei could drill "teamwork" into his thick skull, he could probably try to salvage what was left of his sensei in Naruto. And only when he does, can he accept that his student is actually his sensei.
Right now, he's just an annoying and whiny little brat. Can't Jiraiya just come and take him away? He can't concentrate on his book with all the racket going on. Stupid kids…
How was it? I accept all forms of criticism.
