Adam & Iris
Disclaimer: I do not own anything JoA related, except a perfectly legal copy of the season 1 DVD. This is simply a figment of my imagination.
Summary: Missing scene from Do The Math. This is my idea of how Adam and Iris broke up and why Iris left.
Rating: G?
This takes place right before the end of the episode where Adam goes and talks to Joan.

It was after school, Adam was out in his shed, but he wasn't doing his artwork.
He was thinking about what he was going to say to Iris that night.
He knew he couldn't go on like this anymore.
He loved Jane, plain and simple.
Just when he was about to go over to Iris' house, his shed door burst open.
There stood Iris, looking a bit upset.
"We need to talk," Iris said quietly as she walked over to the table where he was sitting.
"About what, yo?" he asked, standing up.
"My mom got a job offer in Chicago. A better job. And since were really tight on money she thinks it would be the best thing for us. We're leaving in three weeks," she said flat out.
"Oh," he answered, not sure whether to be disappointed or not.
"Adam, I'm breaking up with you," she said, thinking he didn't get it.
"Oh, um, yeah," he stumbled, not knowing what to say.
"What is it?" she asked, stepping closer to him.
"Well, actually, I was gonna come over to your house tonight to tell you that maybe we should, you know, see other people," he said, fumbling to find the words.
"Like, Joan?" she replied, sounding annoyed.
"Iris, I like you, a lot. It's just that Janeā¦" his voice trailed off.
"I see," she replied, unsure of how she felt about all this.
"We can still be friends though," he said, trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, sure," she said, knowing that was pretty much impossible.
She turned around and walked to the door.
Adam silently watched her go.
"She really, really likes you, ya know," she said, almost with a sigh.
"Really!" he said as his face lit up.
"Really," she said, walking out the door.
"Iris, wait," he said, rummaging through piles of twisted metal on his work table.
"What?" she said, wanting to go.
"Uh, here," he replied, handing her something.
"It's a pin!" she said, slightly happy as she examined it.
"Cha, I saw the one you had on when I first met you and so I made you another one," he said with a smile.
"Thanks," she replied with a slight smile as she left his shed.
A few minutes later Adam left his shed to go over to the Girardi house.
All the way there he ran over in his head what he was going to say to her, but as soon as he saw her on the porch wrapped in the blanket, beautiful, he forgot everything he had planned to say. He even ran into some old guy walking a bunch of dogs because he was so caught up in looking at her.
"Hey," he said waving.
"Hey," she answered.
"Can I sit?" he asked shyly.
"Sure," she replied just as shyly.
"Hey, you've been crying," he said, suddenly worried.
"Don't worry, it's not because of you. Well, I'm sure you were in there someplace," she told him honestly.
"I talked to Iris. I told her how I felt," he said with his eyes fixed on her face.
"How's that?" she said, somewhat afraid to know the answer.
"The same way you feel. I was just scared Jane. I got kinda hurt before, and I thought, about you, and being scared didn't matter that much," he told her, rambling a bit.
They sat in silence for a few moments, just looking at each other.
"Hey, you're crying again," he said, worried, as a few tears ran down her cheeks.
"Yeah," she said with a sigh.
For a few more moments they just stared at each other as he rubbed her back gently.
Slowly they got closer and closer until they finally kissed.
