He frightened her now, more often than not she would find herself bathed in
the shadows of irreparable evil and she would consider him lost forever.
But, from time to time, the black she saw now so often would soften and his
eyes would grow closer to those she knew and loved.
And she, with his head buried in her stomach and his hands clutching her
hips, would find herself forgiving him for the roughness of that night, for
the insults which had passed so callously through his lips, for
his...indiscretions - No, she'd brush that thought aside, wouldn't think of
Celeste or the others, wouldn't think about the madness she saw coloring his
gaze or that which could soon be coloring her own, but would instead stroke
his hair and whisper words of forgiveness, feeling her belief return, and
would think of nothing but the shining kingdome on the hill for their child
to inherit.
