Disclaimer I don't own the song nor the characters.
A/N: Not your typical death fic. Trust me, read it to the end.
Shego sighed;she was alone in a graveyard. She knelt beforethe gravestone and gasped. Doctor Drakken was written upon it. Tears brimmed Shego's eyes as she recalled her life with him at the lair.
The greatest man I never knew
Lived just down the hall
And everyday we said hello
But never touched at all
He was in his paper
I was in my room
How was I to know he thought I hung the moon
This much was true. He was always down the hall if she'd wanted to talk. But she never did. She always kept to herself; he kept to his plans.
The greatest man I never knew
Came home late every night
He never had too much to say
Too much was on his mind
I never really knew him
And now it seems so sad
Everything he gave to us took all he had
Shego thought about how some days she wouldn't see Drakken til the middle of the night because he'd have been in his lair the whole day. He never said what he felt was important, he always rambled. But it never seemed to be enoughm these plans and plots. They never seemed to be enough; until they were gone.
Then the days turned into years
And the memories to black and white
He grew cold like an old winter wind
Blowing across my life
As the days progressed, Shego and Drakken grew further apart; she remembered a distant time when they had talked and laughed. Now, the memory was fading.
The greatest words I never heard
I guess I'll never hear
The man I thought would never die
S'been dead almost a year
He was good at business
But there was business left to do
He never said he loved me
Guess he thought I knew
Shego burst into tears; letting them fall onto the patch of ground Drakken's body was under.
She shuttered and shut her eyes. When she opened them, she was in the lair.
"What the...?" she muttered.
"Shego? Where are you?" Drakken called.
Shego's heart skipped a beat. She raced downstairs.
"Oh... Did I wake you?" Drakken asked. noticing his assistant clad in a nightgown.
"It's worth it," she said.
Drakken cocked an eyebrow.
"Worth it? To what? Be with me?"
"Yes," Shego said, edging closer.
She looked into his eyes, and planted a kiss on his lips. When they broke away; Drakken smiled.
"Dr. D?" Shego whispered.
"Yeah?"
"Don't leave... Please?" she whispered.
Drakken smiled.
"I'm here;I always will be," he said softly. "I could never leave you."
Then Shego heard the song echoing in her head. "He never said he loved me Guess he thought I knew" And the Greatest Man She Ever Knew was right; she knew he loved her. And she loved him back.
A/N: A fic that at first seemed angsty turns out to be a fluff fic in which no one dies. Go figure. R&R, no flames!
