a very small and somewhat ugly little man. Upon further inspection one would notice that he was actually a dwarf and that his homely face grew even uglier in his glee in smooshing a small irridescant fairy with the heel of his red leather boots. His joy, however, was to be short-lived.
"Halt, Ambnrosius," A lively red fox commanded his mount.(a small wooly sheep dog)" Hail, friend Hoggle, and what art thou doing sitting thence when his royal majesty has requested your presence?" The knight, for that is what the red fox was,had recently pledged his sword to the goblin king in awe of his noble feat of kicking a goblin across the entire width of the Bog of eternal stench.
"Nothin'," said Hoggle glumly,"What does he want with me?"
"His royal majesty has asked that the whole kingdom gather with all speed in the castle to listen as he relates the tale of his courageous battle and tragic defeat by the Labyrinths conqueror," replied Sir Didymus solemnly.
"Again,"whined Hoggle,"Oh well. At least he's not doing any more of that effeminate prancing.I mean someone might see."
On the top floor of the castle Jareth, the Goblin King, stood in front of his
throne. He wore a long white robe adorned with the feathers of an albino owl
the symbol of his rank as a goblin king. Not that he needed to. In his kingdom
his power and cleverness became legendary among the dim witted goblins and
everyone feared to cross him. Jareth had recently suffered a defeat by a
human girl but he wasn't going to let that interfere with the iron rule he
held over his subjects.
"Quiet," he demanded,"Everyone sit down. I am about to begin my saga. The
first to interrupt will be catapulted into the bog of eternal stench." For
the most part the goblins were childlike and loved listening to the king
weave his tale. But they also had the patience of an average human child and
had trouble with the sitting still part. Satisfied that he was the center of
attention, Jareth began his story.
There once was a handsome and charming young king who spent his every waking hour indulging the whims of a foolish young girl. But the girl was cruel and selfish and nothing could be done to please her.
(This is my favorite part a small goblin whispered to Sir Didymus)
Until one day the girl made a singularly foolish wish for something she never should have asked for. The king granted this wish in a magnamiminous..
(Whats that mean the same goblin asked the fox. Jareth glared at the goblin)
Ahem... a magnaminous attempt to teach the girl maturity. And the girl did mature, and the king stood before her and offered her her every dream. But the girls dreams had changed with her maturity and were compromised by the harshness of reality. The once perfect globe of her ideals was dim and twisted and no longer held the girl enchanted. She rejected the kings offer and used her magic to shatter the unworthy gift. However, what noone realized was that the king had his own crystal and set free to explore his own dreams, she in turn had no power over him."
(What a load of crap remarked a hat like goblin sitting next to Hoggle.)
" That's it. Story time is over. Everybody out," Jareth said sharply and reclined on his throne.
