Disclaimer: I don't own Garin or any of those people.
Note: Garin has not been to New Maraqua and so does not have that blade. This is set when the Revenge first attacked.
Garin watched in numb shock as each member of his crew was forced to walk the plank. He pulled at the ropes binding his wrists to the mainmast, knowing it was no use.
"Scarblade! Stop it! Let them go!" Scarblade turned to Garin.
"I am letting them go, foolish boy. See, I am not binding them. They are free to swim back to shore." He laughed then, a cruel, mocking sound. Garin clenched his teeth as tears stung his eyes. No crew member had even been given a choice. Next to Garin, Jaques stirred. He had been knocked out during the battle.
"Garin, what's going on? Talak!" The young Wocky was being prodded along the plank. Garin shut his eyes at Talak's screech as he fell into the sea. Scarblade smirked.
"That was the last one. Perhaps some of them are strong enough to make it to land. Others are fishbait. Now, about you two..." He turned to Garin and Jaques.
"CAPTAIN!" Scarblade turned toward the yell. One of his henchman was backing away from the railing, looking scared. Three Water Witches were staring over the railing, their burning eyes fixed on Jaques. One pointed at him.
"We, The Drenched, will buy that one from you." Jaques 'meeped' and pulled at his ropes. Scarblade smiled.
"I am perfectly willing to conduct that transaction. How much?" The Drenched named a sum in dubloons, and Scarblade's eyes lit up with greed.
"Why, certainly, ladies. Men, untie him and bring him here." Jaques struggled wildly, all to no avail. Garin pulled and tugged at his bonds, the tears now running freely down his face.
"Jaques! No, Jaques!" Scarblade turned and backhanded his last prisoner.
"Shut up." When a Drenched handed him a bag of money, he counted it twice before having Jaques handed to them. Garin watched helplessly as they forced Jaques to drink something, then made ready to disappear with him.
"Garin! I promise we'll meet again!" Garin's cheek was throbbing, a reminder of what had happened when he last yelled, but he couldn't help it.
"I promise, Jaques!" Then the young Kyrii was gone. The Drenched pulled him with them underwater, away from land-dwelling eyes. Scarblade turned and strode over to Garin.
"I was planning to make him walk the plank when we got farther from land anyway. This way I get a profit. You, however, are going to stay until we get to land. Then I'll decide what to do with you."
