He watched with something between shock and happiness, watching the woman before him, smiling her beautiful smile. Her soft, gentle words echoed in his head, drifting about before finally sinking in.
Realization dawn, and he smiled, taking her in his arms.
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
He was pacing back and forth before the closed hospital room door, wincing at the screams and cries from within, and it was all he could do not to burst in there and comfort his one and only love.
The door opened at last, a man in his long white cloak standing in its stead, watching him. He followed the man in as calmly as possible, barely catching his words upon seeing the small, weakened form atop the bed.
"…healthy baby boy,"
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
A loose arm draping around her slender waist, long waves of cinnamon colored hair flowing over his shoulders as she rested her head on his broad shoulder. He watched the child slumber peacefully behind thin spectacles, the boy's diminutive fist curling beside his pudgy face, golden hair ruffled and unruly.
Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I'll take a breath, take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life
He gazed into her gentle emerald eyes before fixing his gaze onto the child in her arms, wide golden irises watching him curiously.
He smiled.
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
He smiled down at her as she swooned over her newborn baby boy, taking the blonde and setting the one year old on his shoulders, petite legs dangling over his chest and tiny hands reaching out to the sky.
Welcome to the this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Staring down at the boy at his feet, wide golden eyes watching him behind tears, he crouched down and murmured soft words of promise, standing to place and sweet and tender kiss on the woman's cheek. She held the boy's hand, clutching the other in her arms, holding back the tears he knew would be there after his departure.
If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world
He stopped at the peak of the hill, turning to bid final farewell. Closing his eyes, he continued down the path, tucking away the small square photograph within his breast pocket.
With arms wide open…

Rikku: This was soooo random, I don't know what I was thinking. I didn't really come out the way I wanted, but oh well. Anyway, this all in Hohenheim's point of view, you know, Ed and Al's pop, just in case you couldn't already figure it out. I don't know all that much about FMA, and I hardly know anything about him, but at least I can say tried. This is my first song-fic, and my first FMA fic, so be gentle.
