He stared out at the lake, elbows resting on his knees, head resting on his hands. Thinking. Just thinking.

He didn't answer. After a few minutes of silence, he slipped his arm round her waist, pulling her closer.
"Kagome, I want you to promise me something…"
She froze in his arms.
'Oh no! Please don't ask me to leave you…'
Tears started to well up in her eyes.
"Promise me…"

"…Promise me you'll never leave me. Never?"
