Goodnight

OK, so I originally wanted to make this a songfic to The Birthday Massacre's Holiday, but meh, I couldn't do that. FFN...grr.

It just came to me in the dead of the night, and it's not very good, I suppose.

Anyway.

Violet's POV, thinking of all the things that had happened to them.

The night. She loved the night. Rushes of cool air, no matter how hot it had been during the day.

The horridness of the day seemed to fade out, disappear.

The night was the only time when things went right for her.

They all tried to prove they could help.

They all tried to prove that they were ideal guardians.

They all tried to make them stay, make them stay wherever they were, just to show that they were suitable guardians.

All for a pile of green paper and a few pieces of metal.

Nothing worked. Promises broken, attempts made on their lives. Guardians killed, and yet they escaped.

They escaped, but they no longer wanted to. They wanted to lay down in fields and die, join their parents in wherever you go after you pass away.

Die and join everything and everyone that they cared for and had been taken away from them.

Die and let this tragedy, this pain, this endless loss be over.

Yet they couldn't. No matter how much weight they lost, how much they tried, they were alive.

It stung them deeper than anything they ever imagined.

She and her siblings would lose sleep, lose appetite. They would be thin and bony and tired.

And yet, they felt nothing.

The world slogged by, colorless, uninteresting. The blur of people and buildings and the world, once so amusing and fascinating seemed to fade to greys. Not black and white, not color. It was shades of grey, confusing. There was no right or wrong anymore. Or maybe there was, but they just couldn't see it.

They cared for nothing, they cared for no one except the other two. How long could they keep running, keep escaping, keep living like this?

She didn't know.

It was them against the world.

And the world was winning.

Short, huh? Well, guess what, I wanted to make it longer, but it wouldn't fit. That made me so mad.

Oh well.

Review, please.
