Not Fade Away
They didn't survive the final battle. They didn't expect to. An army of darkness had descended upon them in the depths of L.A. The battle was fierce and bloody but it didn't last long as the crew fell one by one. The human was first to go, but he took his fair share of demons with him to Hell. The vampire's lasted longer, fighting back to back, defending themselves with all they had. They fought well, but inevitably they too fell. The ancient one lasted the longest, slaughtering demons with her unfathomable power until sheer numbers overcame her. It was over, the battle.
It seemed that evil had won, swallowed the small resistance with its huge powerful jaws until nothing was left. Evil, however, was wrong. The battle had been won, but the war had only just begun.
Somewhere, in another city, another crew were fighting evil on their own turf. They had won the battle, the side of good, by changing the rules. No longer was the Slayer one, but many. Good now finally had an army of its own against the forces of evil, and the army was powerful, growing everyday.
Now the war was ready to begin, and thanks to the actions of the crew in L.A., the powerful Circle of the Black Thorn no longer existed. But this had not been their greatest victory, no; they had made a much larger mark on the world. The crew of L.A. had made of themselves a martyr. Now, when people thought of good, of pureness and bravery, they would think of those who sacrificed themselves for the greatest good. The legend would be remembered for all time.
For those of you in the middle, those whom are unsure of their way; remember this: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, Charles Gunn, Winifred Burkle/Illyria, Spike, Doyle, Cordelia and Angel will be remembered. They fought until they had no more to give. They gave up what we have, for the greater good.
Angel had done more than take out the powerful Circle of the Black Thorn, he had created a legend that will echo forever in the hearts and minds of those who thrive for his ideals. Angel is an inspiration, a hero.
Remember his story. His legend.
