Hand On My Shoulder
Summary – (One-Shot; Takes place during 'Phantom' and between 'Phantom' and 'Clones') But there's this hand on her shoulder… And it tells her that he'll be okay.
DISCLAIMER – I claim absolutely no part or ownership of the series Star Wars, nor do I claim any part or ownership of the characters.
Warnings – There is some very obvious Qui-Gon Jinn-X-Shmi Skywalker-ness in here. Just warning you so I don't get shit for this.
That's her boy over there.
It's not a statement that's full of pride, no. No.
It's just something entirely different.
Fear? Anxiety? Yes. That's it.
That's her boy over there, damn it.
She doesn't want to look, doesn't want to see him be dashed upon the crags of the desert, doesn't want to watch him die.
But there's this hand on her shoulder.
And it's telling her that it's okay. That he'll be okay. That her Ani will come back, safe, to her.
--
That's her boy over there.
He's walking away from her, running into his room.
And it's just something entirely different from any other time he's done it.
Worry? Sadness? Is that what's in her heart? Yes. That's it.
That's her boy walking away from her, damn it.
She doesn't want to see him walk away from her, towards a new life, free of all this oppression and danger and terror of the Hutts.
But there's this hand on her shoulder.
And it's telling her that it's okay. That he'll be okay. That her Ani will be safe and follow his dreams.
--
That's her boy over there.
As she dreams, she can see him, happy and smiling and just…
It's not pride that she feels in her heart, no. It is something… entirely different.
Love? Caring? Yes. All of that.
Because that's her boy over there. And she loves him with all her heart.
Even though he's so far away by now, she can still dream about him and think about him and miss him and just love him.
But there's this hand on her shoulder.
And it's telling her that it's okay. That they'll be okay.
Because in her dreams, it's like they're a family. A full family.
And Qui-Gon looks down at her, smiling and reassuring before he looks over at Ani, watching and giving a small laugh.
Just as if he was Ani's father.
And in her dreams, she leans her cheek against that hand on her shoulder, drawing warmth and comfort and something that she needs because Ani… Ani isn't here, not really.
But then, neither is that hand on her shoulder.

Author's Space
Just finished watching Episode I for the n-th time, and wrote this even though it's 11:00 at night and I have a 5 page essay on Feudal Japan due tomorrow that I haven't even started.
All-nighter, here I come.
Just a bit of background: I've been thinking about this story-line-thing since before I found fanfiction. Dunno. I just always felt that vibe about Qui-Gon and Shmi. C'mon, in Phantom she's a single slave mother who wants stability in an unstable environment. Byy the end of Phantom, she's a single slave who's lost her only child. Of course she'll fantasize.
Mm. Review or something. Tell me if it goes into a C2 (which I doubt, but…).
love, fluorescent
