Title: Faithful
Summary: It seemed like she was always going back to bloody Mickey. (Ninth Doctor & Rose)
Author's Notes: Not sure if this has the impact I was hoping for. Abandon hope, all ye who read on from here…
The Doctor had used to worry, because it seemed like she was always going back to bloody Mickey.
Mickey the idiot.
Who, yes, all right, had helped them when they needed help – and it cost him something to admit that – but was nothing special, overall.
But she always went back to him, always defended him, always let him hug her and kiss her…
And he didn't have a clue, that Mickey kid; didn't have a clue what this wonderful, amazing woman had seen and done, who she'd saved. Rose went out there and made a difference – Mickey just sat at home with his packet of crisps and his hardly-ever-visited website and just… waited.
Waited for the world to come to him.
Rose went out and found it. In the darkest, dampest places, she found worlds within worlds and was astonished by them.
And then it seemed like she kept going back to bloody Mickey.
But the Doctor didn't need to worry, because she knew better. She didn't keep going back to Mickey; she kept going back to him.
