Time Enough
Part 1
HoroHoro looked at the Doctor eyes wide as his words sank in. It couldn't be true. He didn't feel any different except of course for the headaches and the dizziness. Oh, he couldn't forget the tiredness as well. The Doctor was talking again, HoroHoro was glad it wasn't Faust. As it was his friends were going to have enough problems when they found out. He felt tears fill his eyes and start to trickle down his face. Pirika beside him was wracked by sobs. The Doctor spoke again,
"I am sorry there is nothing I can do." HoroHoro nodded and stood, mechanically thanking the Doctor. He guided Pirika out of the room and towards the exit. His mind still refused to believe the words he had heard. He got them back to Yoh's house. It was still early no one even noticed they were gone. Tears slid down his cheeks faster. They hadn't even noticed. He settled Pirika back into her bed. Anna would be waking everyone in a few hours anyway. On Saturdays she allowed people to sleep in until nearly noon. Sleep had become more important to HoroHoro recently, though it had always been important. As he was leaving to return to his own room Pirika cried out,
"How will we tell them?" Horo froze feeling fear in his heart. He couldn't bear them all acting differently to him,
"Pirika I will tell them when the time is right. Not until." She nodded relieved of that duty. He slipped into his own room and sat on the bed, but couldn't rest. His thoughts flew to all his friends. Tears fell freely down his cheeks now as he finally accepted what he had been told. He broke down like a heartbroken child. The sobs wracking his fragile frame. The Doctors words echoed in his mind,
"You have a brain tumour and it's inoperable. You only have months to live." Exhaustion soon washed over him pulling him into her embrace.
