Dream

Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter or any of its characters… I wish I did own Buckbeak though, so I can fly to London and finally see Daniel Radcliffe…

In my dreams,

The moonlight cradles your face

And your eyes twinkle

In a way stars never could…

He couldn't help but watch her.

She sat alone under a large shady birch tree, her back resting on the thick rough bark, looking serene and at ease with her eyes closed.

She looked like a fairy with her chestnut hair unbound, floating around her shoulders as the wind breezed by, and the way her dark lashes fanned her porcelain smooth skin. A book lay forgotten on her lap, its pages waving with each playful blow of the wind.

During that moment he had forgotten who he is, who she is, where they are and what they were. It was a rare moment he had let his guard down, actually letting his feelings surface.

And she didn't see how he watched her.

Her head was slowly drooping to one side, and when she was about to fall on her side, he didn't stop to think about catching her. Her head lay on his arm, half her body entwined to his own.

You are mine,

And the world conspires

So that we can be together…

It was the first and last time she'd be this close to him.

He shifted her weight a little, but still she remained asleep. Just as he was about to set her back on her original position, she gave a small moan and snuggled closer to him, then gave a contented smile when she was in his arms again.

He went rigid at her spontaneous action, his gray eyes widening at the way she touched him. He couldn't resist pulling her closer to him, inhaling the sweet scent of her hair. In that moment, he didn't think about anything--- not his bloodlines, nor her impure ones, his duties and her beliefs… all that mattered was her.

But like every fantasy, it abruptly came to an end. He heard footsteps, and he hastily pulled away and leaned her back on the tree. He stood up and sprinted over to one of the bushes just as a redhead man walked towards her with a raven-haired man wearing glasses.

But then I wake up

And crash back to reality,

That the moon shines

Not on your majesty,

But on my loneliness

And in my sorrow…

"Hermione," the redhead murmured, gently prodding the girl on the shoulder. The girl's eyes fluttered open and she gave her friends a sleepy smile. "I fell asleep," she said in a hoarse voice as she started to sit up.

The man wearing glasses assisted her in standing up, and she thanked him as he carried her book. "I was having a nice dream too," she commented, brushing some twigs from the back of her robes.

"What kind of dream?" asked the man wearing glasses. The girl smiles softly as she stared off into space. "Someone was holding me…" she whispered, a wistful look crossing her features.

The two men shared a grin. The girl gave them a scoff in reply. "You wouldn't understand." She huffed. Just as the three friends walked away, he stepped away from the bush and sat on the exact place the girl had sat on a while ago.

I can only whisper,

"You can never be mine…"

Maybe if he sat there too, he might dream about the same thing she did.
