Skagos, The North, 3rd moon of 275 AC
The geography of Skagos was something to behold; its large mountains formed a vast valley in a "bow-like "form; it was like these mountains were impregnable walls protecting the plains fields inside; maybe that's why most people didn't thrive here; they could only live in the outmost part of the island, which was mountainous and rocky.
As he was flying on Midstinul back, Ragnar would often see some settlements here and there, but none of them were inside that vale, which made sense for him; without the mighty wings of a dovah, no one would be able to get there. Ragnar planned to build his seat of power inside that valley; if the idea had worked, he wouldn't even need to build anything. His magic would do his work for him… but before he could do that, he would need to conquer Skagos; he would need to make these people follow him, and the best way to do it was by making the three great houses of Skagos to bend the knee to him…
"There, Midstinul," Ragnar pointed to a large stone keep; the stones that made it seemed to be as old as the wall itself; they were covered by green moss and had an ancient look.
Ragnar also noticed some houses surrounding the old keep; there were five hundred to 1,5 thousand houses, all looking old and simple, and some unicorn herds could be seen "grazing" around. It was summer in Westeros; it meant people could at least find food, but this would be temporary, and they knew it…Winter in Skagos was harsh, people starved, and some even practiced cannibalism as a last resort.
"Land there, my friend, and our mighty conquest shall begin," Ragnar told the dragon, who chose to remain in silence and just obeyed his thuri.
The people of Kingshouse town were having a good day; they didn't have much food but weren't starving either. They all knew it was momentary; once winter came, hell would descent on them like it always had before, mothers would sacrifice themselves just so their children could live one more day, and sons would eat their mothers so that they could honor their last wishes and live another day as was begged of them. They were simple people, desperate for change; their ancestors would tell them stories about the Starks of Winterfell and how they promised to end their suffering; if the stories were to be believed, they did fulfill their part of the promise… until House Magnar and their vassals decided to rebel against House Stark. The rebellion was unsuccessful, and the wolves crushed the Skagossons, and ever since those days, House Stark abandoned Skagos to its gruesome fate.
The lord of Kingshouse, Bjadorr Magnar, was an ugly man, disliked and feared by most people of his town, he would call upon "the right of the first night" whenever possible, and those who opposed him would die.
Bjadorr was walking around his town, something he often did, not to see for the well-being of his citizens. No, he did it to show them he was always watching; they could not hide their wives from him; they could not deny what was his by right. But he wasn't a total monster; sometimes he would hear the plea of his people, and most often than not, he would help them out… he didn't do it because he liked to help people; he did it just so his subjects wouldn't rebel against him… he knew he was disliked by most, but that was it, they just disliked him, they didn't hate him, hate was a powerful motivator, and he would never make his subjects hate him, at least not if he could help it.
It was then that he saw it, a dragon, A FUCKING DRAGON coming towards him and his city. The beast was huge, bigger than everything he had ever seen… he didn't even have time to scream for help or mercy before the dragon landed. His head was almost the size of a small house, with grey scales; gods damn those scales that allowed the dragon to fly unnoticed and get them unprepared; his eyes were as blue as the lightning that rained upon the cold mountains on a stormy day… the whole town was paralyzed, no sound could be heard besides the dragon's breath. The dragon then bowed, and out of his back, a man could be seen, the man jumped from the dragon's back, and it was at this moment that Bjadorr knew he was fucked up.
Ragnar underestimated how frightened these people were of dragons; they could even move when they saw Midstinul. Ragnar felt this was going to be an easy conquest… If he played his cards right, he could make them bend the knee without bloodshed.
Ragnar saw many people looking at him with fear, the one who stood out most was a man in fine leather clothes and a unicorn fur cloak; he assumed this man was Lord Magnar.
"You, who are you, stranger? And why do you bring your beast here?" To Ragnar's surprise, it wasn't the supposed Lord Magnar who spoke; it was a blacksmith who had his son by his side.
" Drem yo lok, greetings. I commend your courage, blacksmith, you fear for your life and your son's life, and yet you spoke to me… very brave, not everyone can stand the presence of a dovah…." Ragnar said.
The skagosson had never heard a voice like that; it was deep yet at the same time extremely sonorous… it was impressive.
" My name is Ragnar Dovahkiin; Lord Stark himself made me the high lord of Skagos. I came here to claim what is mine by promise."
Once Ragnar said "Stark," there was a collective breath intake from the crowd. It seems the name Stark still carries respect here.
" Lord Stark has no power here, stranger… I have! And you are no lord of mine… a craven like you who uses a beast to fight his battle cannot be The lord of Skagos," said Lord Magnar. His words were met with disapproving glances from the crowd. House Stark was giving them a powerful Lord, one who had a dragon, House Stark apparently wanted Skagos to go back to the graces of the North, but Lord Magnar didn't seem to care… they could not let this opportunity fade…
"No, I don't need my Dragon to fight for me, Lord Magnar of House Magnar… I have bested the dragon on single combat, I am his thur… his overlord. But I respect the ways of The North… I challenge you to single combat; if you best me, then you will have my dragon's allegiance… and WHEN I best you, I shall be the rightful lord of all your lands and have all your possessions… what say you joor?" Said Ragnar nonchalantly.
"Nah, Do you take me for a fool? If I kill you, your dragon will rain fire upon my land," said Lord Magnar.
" DO NOT PRESUME MY ACTIONS, JOOR; MY THURI WORDS ARE LAW! IF HE COMMANDS ME TO FOLLOW YOU IF YOU BEST HIM, THEN I SHALL DO SO," Said Midstinul, surprising even the craziest man...
" It speaks…" said Lord Magnar, who by this point looked as if he had eaten all limes of Dorne at the same time
" WHAT SAY YOU, LORD MAGNAR? The dragon has spoken. Shall we dance, or are going to piss on your ancestors' history?" Said Ragnar as he unsheathed his Skyforged steel…
Lord Magnar contemplated his options, he could not accept the challenge and die by dragon fire, or he could fight this man, and if he won, he would then proceed to conquer the whole world with the mighty grey dragon… it didn't take long for him to make a decision…
" Aye, craven, I accept your challenge… I shall have your dragon by the end of this battle, and then I shall find your family and make your dragon rain fire on them; I shall take your mother as my whore… " Said Lord Magnar… and the crowd could not believe in him… "how can you call a 7 ft tall, bulkier as a volcano man, a craven? Is he fucking crazy" they all thought…
" So be it then… but you shouldn't have slandered my mother… I planned on letting you feel the taste of the adrenaline of a good battle, but now your blood will paint these ancient mountains," Ragnar said as he sheeted his sword…
"Ha, you already gave up… so much talk and no fight," Lord Magnar said as he unsheathed his bronze sword and ran at Ragnar. He tried to go for the neck… key word being "tried." Ragnar just evaded the attack and grabbed Lord Magnar's hand, smashing it in the process, which made the man scream like a virgin whore whose first client had a 10 in cock; he then grabbed the man's head and lifted him from the ground… What happened next would later serve as inspiration for a song named "The god of strength and the blood sack"… Ragnar simply threw the man at the mountain behind the stone keep… He used so much strength that when Lord Magnar hit the mountain, his body simply ceased to be, and his blood painted part of the mountain red…
" DOVAHKIIN THURI" roared Midstinul at the sky
The people were mesmerized by what had just happened. They didn't even have time to comprehend what they saw before the dragon roared into the sky… they looked at the dragon and then at the man; they simply kneeled and waited to see what would happen…
"Skagossons, you have long ago lost your dignity due to your Lord's actions or inactions; they made you rebel against the north just for the north to turn its back on you and ostracize you and your children.. House Magnar, with their arrogance and stupidity pissed on your ancestors will and took from you your future… They robbed you of your ability to provide for your family; they took from you, man, the right to protect your wife's honor… They took from you, woman, the right to remain loyal to your man… they took from your children their innocence and robbed from them the certainty of their right to live… but the worst thing wasn't what they took, no, it was what they brought to you and your children… they brought hunger and starvation to your realm and made sure that every single one of you would face it should winter come… NO MORE!! Everything they took from you, I shall give it back on tenfolds, I will give your dignity back, I will give your honor back, I will return your ability to provide for your family… STAY WITH ME, AND YOU'll NEVE GO HUNGRY AGAIN!!!" Ragnar shouted, and his thu'um shook the land. The Skagossons, by this point, were all standing with their fist pointed to the sky… women had tears in their eyes, but their face showed nothing but determination… Men showed anger for what House Magnar did to them, but they also showed they believed in Ragnar and would support him and his house should he ever need it… once Ragnar finished his speech, it was followed by 1 second of silence, and then they Skagossons showed him their lung's might
"DOVAHKIIN, DOVAHKIIN, DOVAHKIIN, DOVAHKIIN" after 20 minutes of shouting, one man, the same blacksmith from before, walked toward Ragnar and raised his hand, asking for silence; the crowd surprisingly became silent; the man then knelt down and shouted
"THE LORD OF SKAGOS, THE LORD OF SKAGOS…" The crowd followed him in his shouting…
Ragnar looked at the crowd and then looked at the clouded snowy sky; he knew what he had to do to finish this moment with a flourish
"LOK VAH KOOR," he shouted at the sky, and to the crowd's bewilderment, the snow ceased, and the clouds disappeared; the sun so long hidden in the last days made his glorious appearance.
" You have thrust me with your future, and like the skies above, your destiny is now clear. I only see brightness for Skagos; I only brightness do OUR future!" Shouted Ragnar, and the crowd went utterly crazy… Ragnar then saw a man with House's Stane coat of arms on his gibbon, he walked towards this man, and once he was in front of him, he said
"Tell them what happened here today… tell House Stane, and it's the lord that if they don't come to pledge their loyalty to me, I'll go there, take his seat of power, tell them a new era has come for Skagos…."
The man nodded and left Ragnar's presence to carry on his task…
Ragnar then summoned 20 mammoths' fresh corpses (Skyrim mammoths he had killed before coming to Planetos) and 40 barrels of mead( those big ass ones) and said
"Today we feast and eat, for tomorrow we work for the good of Skagos…."
