Opposing Sides

"I believe good and evil exists in every person." Knowingly it was said by the man with impeccable taste.

"So, that's why you brought me out here, eh?" These were rasped out good-humoredly by the figure with the gravelly voice.

There was a shift in position and a short contemplation but he answered boldly. "In a way, yes. But I'm trying to rid myself of you for good. You're nothing but a hideous monster."

"Oh. But we're one and the same. Two halves of a whole. You can't have one without the other, my dear brother." Give him a lecture, along with one of your leering grins.

"Lies. Just spewing more lies from that filthy mouth." A protest, spat out venomously. How he wished he could seal those lips forever.

Take a step back, maybe a little mocking gasp. "Tsk, tsk. Now, is that any way for a good doctor to talk? And to family, no less."

"You are no such thing! Even the people here could see that we have no such relations." And so opens the flood gate of hostility.

"On the contrary, my upper crust sibling. We look so much alike." The calm one is amused. He's never seen the other this riled up before. Ever, in fact.

"You could never make it in today's society." Pride is here. He thinks he has bested him. Personalities seemed to have switched. Who is who, now?

"No? Society. Everything's wrong with it these days.
Why, all one has to do is put up a polite front and they all believe that you are most sane."
Mr. Hyde let out the tiniest of chuckles because, all of a sudden, there was no response from the doctor.
