Feelings
Data was making a machine which could destroy anything, even the Enterprise. Wesley was helping him until Riker called him to the bridge to start his shift. Reluctantly Wesley set off for the bridge saying to Data that he would help him when his shift was over. On his way to the turbolift, someone stunned Wesley and he fell through a door.
Meanwhile, on the bridge, Riker was wondering where Wesley was. He tried to contact him but he didn't get a reply. After finding his whereabouts from the computer, Riker found Wesley out cold with a burn on his back. Riker carried Wesley to sickbay where Beverly healed the burn on Wesley's back and revived him. When Wesley wakes up he found that his arm was paralysed by the way he fell. Only when Beverly said she couldn't cure it directly, did Wesley get a little worried. How can he do his duties as Ensign? Riker said that he better get off to the bridge and Wesley went after learning that in a few days his arm would be back to normal. Wesley wondered why Riker sent him to the bridge but had to do it anyway.
On the bridge Wesley was having difficulties at conn. He went to see Picard and told him about his arm and Riker. Picard agreed with Wesley and, after telling Riker about Wesley, sent him off to sickbay. Riker protested saying that Wesley could still work with one arm but Picard overruled him without knowing that taking Wesley's side would lead to trouble for him and Riker in the future.
Back in his quarters Wesley thought Riker should be given a taste of his own medicine but he was too far down the ranks to hurt Riker is any way, shape or form. Fortunately, for Wesley but not Riker, Wesley knew how Picard would react in some circumstances and devised an evil plot to get his revenge.
Later the next day Wesley found Picard on holodeck two, horse riding. Wesley asked Picard some questions but phrases them so that it sound like, to Picard, that Wesley just wanted help with Data's new machine. With that information from Picard, Wesley was able to finalise his plans for operation 'Rank Swap'.
But another matter cropped up. Wesley was going to help Data prepare for his launching ceremony but luckily, Data said it had to put off for a few weeks. A few days later Wesley's arm was fully healed and he was coming back from his shift on the bridge when he saw Riker. Riker was walking fast and not looking where he was going, so Wesley stuck out his leg and tripped him up. He then ran away before Riker could see who had done it.
Wesley went to see his mother an hour later and wasn't surprised to see Riker there. When talking to Riker he put on a convincing performance so that everyone else would think that he was sorry for Riker, but really, he was pleased with himself for breaking Riker's nose and leg. When he got back to his quarters he called Admiral Nechayev to ask her a favour and to send an order to the Enterprise.
