A friendasked meto write this story, so I did. I still don't like it, but she asked me to upload it, so I did that too. Aren't I easy to manipulate? Anyway, feel free to read, it's very short.
Pairing: Sirius/Lucius
A frozen moment of time
When he fell, it was like time itself froze. He could feel a tingling feeling spreading out from the spot in his chest where the spell had hit him, but it felt distant. The rest of his paralyzed body could just as well have been located on the other side of the planet than hovering in midair during the frozen moment of time.
It was almost ridiculous how many thoughts were running through his head during that short moment. He thought of Prongs; he thought of Lily; he thought of Wormtail and how much he wanted to wring that little rat's neck. He thought of Moony; he thought of Harry and he thought of pink rabbits frolicking in a purple pumpkinpatch. The last thing had to be the proof that he had finally gone completely insane, he told himself. What the Dementors of Azkaban hadn't been able to do, Bellatrix had accomplished with a simple spell.
What a stupid place for a battle…
As he felt the back of his head make contact with the ragged veil, all thoughts of the battle vanished from his mind. The veil wasn't something that was unknown to him. Most wizards knew about the rumours of the Death Chamber which was kept deep inside the Ministry for Magic, but Sirius couldn't remember if anyone had ever mentioned the whispering voices coming from behind the veil. He didn't think anyone who kept spreading the rumours had ever heard the voices or even seen the veil with their own eyes.
However, if they had, they probably wouldn't have known how to describe the voices. Sirius himself was hearing them, and if anyone would have asked him to describe them, he wouldn't have known what to say. Not that it mattered…
Time was moving so slowly, and yet his thoughts raced through his mind in a chaotic sort of order. The faces of his closest friends appeared before his eyes, mixed with images and sounds from past times he was sure he had forgotten a long time ago. All these memories flashed through his mind and seemed to disappear into complete darkness - out of his reach. He let them go – he didn't think they were going to be important anymore where he was going, were it Heaven or Hell. But when one series of memories appeared, he found himself fighting to keep them from disappearing.
Cold grey eyes softening as they met his. Pale blond hair, as soft to touch as the finest silk. A voice, promising what never could and never would be fulfilled. Two destinies, driven apart by something as trivial as time. Time and a short trip to Azkaban…
Clinging to the very memory of the love he had once felt, Sirius fell through the veil, feeling the owners of the whispering voices closing up on him, turning him into one of them. If anyone in the Death Chamber would have leaned closer to the veil, they would have heard a voice, stronger than the other whispers.
"Lucius…"
