You see her laying there, sleeping peacefully, and you know that this is it. There is no changing the past, and no knowing of the future.

You sneak into her window, she always kept it unlocked, and just stand there. Mesmerized, awe filled, this was yours. You're giving it up. You tell yourself that the reasons are justifiable, that this was for the better. Just like you know if you were to stay one of you would have to give something up. You your independence, her, her future.

This isn't the way things are supposed to be, you think, but you know, to stay would be selfish.

You walk over to her bed, bend over, inhale the unique coffee and cherry scent she owns, and kiss her gently on her sugar sweet lips.

You stay in this position for a few minutes before finally standing up, turning around, and walking back to the window.

You now sit on a rickety bus and look out the window. You look up at a star and think of her. You wish with all your might even though it's not a shooting star, that she'll be happy.

You tightly close your eyes and whisper into the night air, that you were here, and that you cared.
