Stargazing

"Meilin!" The cry sounded throughout the open space of the park, bouncing off the giant penguin slide and the various trees in the twilight.

"MEILIN!" It came again, louder this time, and more urgent. The bushes parted to reveal a harried looking boy, his brown hair tousled with a few leaves and twigs sticking out, which he shook out with a violent toss of his head.

"Where in the world did meimei go?" he said wondered aloud, reverting back to his native language as he oft did when he wasn't around anyone from this foreign land. Peering about in the semi-darkness, he tried to make out a feminine figure with dark hair tied with ribbons and a yin-yang outfit that matched his own, though not so fanciful. Disgruntled, he heaved a sigh and set about walking towards the bridge to see if she might be on the other side.

"Jyyaaaahh!"

"AAAAHHHH!"

The two cries sounded one after another as the aforementioned girl fell out of a tree from above the boy. Unfortunately for him, she landed on top, grinning and giggling all the while, seemingly oblivious to his groans. Or maybe she was just used to it, seeing as she harassed him in such a way quite often. Once he'd recuperated enough to push her off of him, she stopped her expressions of mirth and looked at him with big eyes.

"You were looking for me?" she queried, smiling innocently when she noticed his twitching nerve.

He took a deep breath before falling back over onto his back and closing his eyes, responding to her question with a grunt. There was a pause before she began to poke at him, forcing him to open his eyes once more to the starry night's sky above them.

"There's going to be a meteor shower tonight. I know how you like astronomy and decided I'd come back out to remind you in case you'd forgotten after that Clowcard capture."

"Why did you think I stayed out after all that?" She didn't let on that she was rather touched. She never did. She didn't have to.

"Hnn." He didn't let on that he'd been worried about her, tired as she was after the sparring with yet another card. This one was one of the many Sakura hadn't been around for. She probably had no idea how many they'd captured without her. They were going to keep it that way. He never expressed his protective feelings for his cousin, or as it is considered in China, his little sister. Meimei. He didn't have to.

She stretched out beside him and sighed contentedly. She loved spending time like this with him. She knew that one day, he'd get a girlfriend and stop spending so much time with her. Someone like Sakura. She'd keep that day from coming as long as she could, but tonight, she would forget all that and enjoy the lightshow with her cousin. Her gege.

They waited in the cool fall evening for the stars to come out together.

A/N: I know I know. They tend to speak Cantonese in Hong Kong and she's engaged to him. But! It's a fanfiction, and I've forgotten how to speak Cantonese.

All that aside, if you made it through the sappiness, tell me what you thought. I wrote it in about 5 minutes.
