Author's Note: Hey guys. I was going to make this THE chapter but I think
that I need to tie up some things before the big entrance so this chapter
is probably going to be kinda short. I think the next chapter will be fro
Haley's POV, but I'm not sure yet. Anyways, here's chapter seven...

Peyton's POV
I can't do it. I though I could, but I can't. Brooke keeps telling me that Haley needs me to see her and I'm sure that she's right, but I think the last thing that Haley needs right now is for me to start crying. She's going to get enough of that when she finally gets out of here. At first, I thought that I just needed some time to sort things out, that I would get the courage to go in there later. I don't think that's going to happen. I keep playing this picture in my head, of what Haley must look like. She's not full of live like she always is and I don't think that I can handle seeing that. I know that she wants to see me. I really want to see her too, the problem is, I can't. Nothing would make me happier than to go into that room and see that she's okay, but what if she's not? What if I go in there and she's angry at me for not answer my phone? She should be angry. I didn't answer my phone and look what happened. This is killing me. How messed up am I? All I want to do is see my best friend, but that very same thought scars me to death. Can we all say issues?

"Probably cause it is," I sigh. I rest my head against her shoulder and she lets me. I never realized how much I actually need her.
"I would give anything to go back in time and stop this from happening," she babbles. I think we all feel the same way. "I never would have brought her to that party." She wants to play the guilt game? Bring it on. I could go all night for this one.
"Yeah, and I would have answered my phone," I countered. She sighs and pulls herself up, forcing me to sit up as well. "It doesn't matter what we would do now, Brooke. It happened and no amount of wishing will erase it. It's just something that we are all going to have to deal with."
"Thanks, you're making me feel so much better," she mumbles. I give her a sympathetic look.
"Is there anything that I could say that would make you feel better?" She shakes her head, sadly.
"No I guess not," she answers. "Besides, this isn't about us feeling better. This should be about Haley feeling better." I give her a doubtful look and she frowns. "Okay, making her feel better is even more impossible, but that's what we should be focused on."
"I get you," I reassured her. We sit in silence for a moment. "Look, Brooke, I wanted to apologize for what happened with Luc..."
"It's over," she interrupts me. "I get what happened and Haley told me that you called it off with him before I found out. She said that you didn't want to hurt me."
"Then what changed?" I asked. She looked to be confused so I continued. "How come you forgive me now? If you knew what happened before then why didn't you forgive me then."
"I realized how important my friends are to me," she explains. My eyes light up in comprehension.
"Oh,"
"It's just that with everything that's going on with Haley," she begins. "I realized that you're here and Luke's not. Lucas hasn't been here for a month. I've been chilling at my own pity-party and I forgot to invite you." I smile. "I'm sorry that I was such a bitch."
"Same," I agree. I hold up my hand and make a fist. "Hoes over bros," I say and she gives me props. "Only this time, I mean it." We giggle and hug. We're interrupted by the sound of a throat clearing.
"Hi, girls," greets the woman standing before us. She's holding a bag of food and has a guilty frown on her face. We pull apart and face her.
"Hi, Deb," I smile at her. I still have tears in my eyes form my makeup session with Brooke.
"Mrs. Scott," adds in Brooke. "What are you doing here?" I sense a cold tone in her voice. I frown at her for making Deb feel worse than she already does. Deb had nothing to do with this. I nudge her and she gives me a disbelieving look. I shake my head at her and turn back to Deb.
"What you got there?" I ask her. She holds out the bags in question. She places them on the floor in front of us.
"I know how bad the food can be here so I figured I'd drop some edible stuff off," she offers. I watch as Brooke's features soften. "Isn't Karen around?"
"She went up to Haley's room," Brooke explains, I much softer tone this time. "She should be down any minute now, actually." Deb nods her head and looks a little uncomfortable. Just when she's about to say something, Karen walks out of the elevator wiping her eyes.
"Deb?" she questions as she walks over to us. "What are you doing here?"
"I thought about what Dan said and I realized that he was right," she explained. I find the fact that Dan was right to be very doubtful, but it seems to make Karen lighter some how. "I shouldn't stand up for Nathan. What he did was wrong. He needs to pay the price for his actions."
"I understand where you where coming from before," Karen replies. I'll just pretend that I know what's going on. "Nathan is your son and you can't just stop loving your son. No matter what."
"But I love Haley, too," she states. The women seem to share a silence agreement and smile at each other. Deb breaks her eye contact with Karen and turns to us. "Do either of you girls need a ride home?" We both shake our heads.
"I think we're gonna stay here," I answer for the both of us. Brooke nods in agreement. Deb turns to Karen. I'm expecting her to saw no, but she nods her head.
"Yeah, actually," she accepts. "I don't think I can stay in here any longer. After everything that I want through with Lucas... Will you two be okay?"
"Oh, yeah," Brooke says. "We'll hold down the fort."
"I'll be back tomorrow," she informs us. "But if she wakes up and is looking for me, please call me right away."
"You got it."
"I'll see you girls tomorrow," she says. We both stand up and give her a warm hug. Deb nods to us and they both walk out the door. We sit back down and stare at the food.
"You want to eat?" I ask her, not feeling very hungry.
"Not right now," she sighs. "I don't think I'd be able to hold anything down."
"So, then what do you want to do?" I question her. She slowly lays her head down on my shoulder and pulls her fallen coat over her body.
"Sleep," she mumbles as she drifts off. I smile sadly and kiss the top of her head. I don't really see how she could possible sleep. Well, without nightmares anyway. Then again, she must be absolutely exhausted. I know I am. Maybe sleep doesn't sound so bad after all. I rest me head on top of hers and close my eyes. I hope there's a happier place than this in my dreams.

There, all tied up and ready for the big entrance. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about, but that's okay. I promise to have the next chapter up for tomorrow. And it will be from Haley's POV. I promise it won't be too dark at first. Please review and tell me what you think. It's really important to me. Thanks. See you tomorrow.
