Author's Note: I loved To Wish Impossible Things. It was awesome. Once again, there was some really classic moments. The balloon fight on the roof and the pool scenes with Nate and Peyton were great. I don't think Haley should have gonna that tattoo, but at least it's small so she can cover it up easily when they break up. Anyways, I really don't think that Brooke is pregnant so that story line will not be included along with the Larry/Karen stuff. That's just wrong. Okay, here's chapter thirteen...

Peyton's POV

So here I am, once again, my life completely turned upside down. When my mom died I was really little, so I didn't really have that much of a life to get turned upside down, but it still made everything crazy for a while. Now, I'm a teenager, the most important part of your life. It's when you're a teenager that your life is starting to fall into place. You pretty much make your life long friends when you're in high school and some people even meet their soul mates; well they think they do anyway. And it's in high school that thing affect you the most. There are a lot of adults out there that still remember the names of all the mean kids that picked on them in high school. When you're a teenager you mind is so open to new things, which makes you that much more vulnerable to getting hurt. If it can happen to such a smart and sweet girl like Haley James then it can happen to anyone. I've always had a problem with trusting people, especially guys, they are only after one thing after all. I've only trusted four people in my entire life; Brooke, Haley, Luke and my dad, the only people I can say that I've ever loved. For the most part they have all come through in the end. I don't know what I would do if one of them betrayed me, just the though of it makes me want to hold myself. I finally understand where Brooke was coming from before and it makes me that much more grateful that she's forgiven me now. When you love someone you should be able top trust them. If they truly love you they could never hurt you on purpose, it's just not a possible thing. There's no doubt in my mind that Nathan loved Haley, at least at one point, so how could he do this to her? How could someone ever hurt someone they love like that? I'll never know.

"I can't deal at the moment. I will later, I promise. For now," she pauses to collect herself. She's finally about to break down, I can tell. The tears start to fall down her cheeks. "Will you just hold me?" And I do. I would hold her forever if it would make her feel even a little bit better.

"Forever," I whisper into her ear as she continues to cry into my shoulder. I hold the back of her head with one hand as I rub her back with the other. This goes one for a few more minutes until she pulls back and tries to wipe her eyes. I reach over and wipe off one that she missed. She gives me a watery smile, trying to convince me that she\s okay now. Even though I know she's not, I smile back at her.

"Sorry," she apologizes. I quickly shake my head telling her that she has nothing to be sorry about. I know that she never wanted anyone to see her break down. She was trying so hard to keep up a brave face.

"Don't be silly," I tell her. "It's completely understandable. I bit delayed even." She smiles at me again and looks towards the washroom.

"I gotta go pee now," she laughs and I move to grab the pager thingy so a nurse can come and help her. There's a young nurse at Haley's sit within a minute. "Thanks," Haley mutters as the woman supports her. They move over to the washroom slowly and soon vanish behind the door. I imagine that this might take a while so I grab the phone on the desk beside the bed. I press in the numbers to my house and wait for my dad to answer. Surprisingly enough, he answers after only one ring.

"Hello?" he greets anxiously. Wow, he don't even sound tired either. Didn't he go to sleep?

"Hey, dad," I reply and I hear him exhale. "What's up?"

"Nothing," he quickly answers. "Is everything there?" I pause and look over to the closed door, thinking of what just happen. Is everything okay?

"It could be worse," I finally answer. He seems to be happy with that answer because he lets out another breath. "She seems to be taking it okay. Key word being; seems. I think the rest of us are taking it harder then her at the moment. Most of all Brooke. She's just broken."

"I can imagine," he comments. I really doubt that he can, but I don't say anything. He's just trying to be supportive. "How long are you gonna be there for?"

"I think the doctor said that Brooke could take her home tomorrow," I answer trying to remember everything that's been said over the last fifteen hours. Everything is starting to blend together. "So I'm probably gonna be here again tonight. Maybe even sleep over at Brooke's with them the first few nights."

"Alright, honey," he says. "Maybe I'll even stop by sometime today. I'll talk to later. I love you."

"Love you, too," I say before we both hang up. I look over at the washroom and they still aren't through yet. I'm not sure how much longer it will take so I pick up the phone again and dial the cafe. I know Karen said that she'd be by today, but I figure I better call her and tell her that Hales is awake.

"Hello, Karen's Café. Deb speaking, how may I help you?" Deb greet into the phone. Whoa, Deja view. Only this time, Deb doesn't have the same chipper tone that she had last night.

"Hey, Deb, is Karen there?"

"Oh, hello Peyton," she says with sadness in her voice. She knows I know what's going on so she doesn't need to put up a fake face. "No, she took the day off today. How's Haley?"

"She's actually doing okay," I tell her truthfully. I hope that makes her feel at least a little better. "So Karen's at home?"

"Yeah."

"Okay," I say. "Thanks, Deb." I hang up and dial their house number. After three rings someone answers the phone.

"Hello?" a male voice greets me. I'm not sure who's voice it is, but I think I recognize it. "Hello?"

"Uh, who is this?" I ask, wanting to make sure I got the right number. I hear the person move around and I can hear a female voice in the background.

"Keith," he answers. Oh, good. For a minute there I thought it might be Dan. I think that's the only other thing that could possible go wring now. "Who are you calling for?"

"Oh, sorry," I mumble, just realizing that I haven't said anything for a few moments. "Is Karen there?" I hear some muffled noises in the background and soon Karen has the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Karen," I greet her, trying to keep all the sadness out of my voice. "It's Peyton."

"Of course, honey," she says, informing me that she knew who I was. At least she didn't go out and get drunk last night. "How's Haley doing? Are you able to see her yet?"

"Oh, yeah," I reply. "She's been awake since four this morning. She can't wait to see you." I can tell that she's smiling. "When are you coming over?"

"I'll be over there really soon," she informs me. "Is there anything I can get her on my way over? Does she need ice cream or anything?" I smile. I bet Hales could go for some ice cream at the moment.

"I bet she'd love it," I tell her.

"Can I talk to her?"

"She's in the washroom at the moment," I answer. I hope she isn't too upset.

"Okay, just tell her I'll see her soon then," she was about o hang up, but I just remembered something.

"Oh, Karen?" I quickly say. I can tell that she's still there. "Brooke went over to Haley's house to pick up some clothes. Would you mind picking her up there?"

"No problem," she agrees. She's such a nice woman and I can tell that she likes Brooke. Even though her and Luke broke up, Karen always kept in touch with Brooke. "We'll see you guys soon. Bye."

"Bye," I say before hanging up. Just as I put the phone back in its cradle, Haley and the nurse immerge from the washroom. The nurse just walks Haley back over to her bed, smiles in my direction and walks back out the door.

"Who were you talking to?" Haley asks me as she moves around, trying to find a comfortable position to sit in. "New boyfriend?"

"I just called my dad," I tell her. "Just to let him know I'll be staying here again tonight."

"Oh no, Pey," she says. "You don't have to do that. I know how much you hate hospitals...

"I'm staying," I interrupt her. Does she honestly think that I'm just going to leave her alone? "Don't even try to get me out of here. You're stuck with me."

"I guess that's alright," she laughs lightly.

"Guess who's coming to see you?" I ask her, knowing she'll be happy to see Karen. She's been waiting to see her since she woke up. I swear that girl loves Karen more then she loves her own mother.

"Um...Brad Pitt?" I shake my head. "Britney Spears?" I shake my head again. Yeah, right. Like either of them would even give us the time of day. "Avril Lavigne?" she asks with a sour look on her face.

"No, thank God," I exclaim. If she stepped foot in this room I think I'd die. I shiver at the thought.

"Then who?"

"Just a local mother," I say. "Maybe you know her, Karen Roe?" Her eyes widen with excitement. "She just gonna pick Brooke up at your house and she'll be over."

"I can't wait." I hope Karen can make her feel better. Me and Brooke don't seem to be doing a very good job. Maybe all Hales needs is a little motherly love.
