CALVIN'S GUIDE TO TIME AND SPACE
"Is it ready, Nebular?" Galaxoid, the little alien asked. The blue crimson spaceship hovered about a lightyear from earth, but their advanced technology allowed them to see Earth up close. Jamming all communications on the planet, Galaxoid prepared. This clearance would allow them to save time by going right through where earth was now. The super laser-cannon was ready.
"Yes, but we wanted to get something from you. Are you sure you want to destroy the planet you own?" asked Nebular, at the control station.
"I must do what is best for the galaxy. Fire at will." Galaxoid said. Nebular readied the laser cannon.
Meanwhile, Calvin had taken his dad's camera and was ready for another time traveling adventure. "Hey, Hobbes! Want to go on an adventure?" Calvin asked, already in the Time Machine.
"No way! Last time we almost got eaten." Hobbes said, looking at Calvin in the box.
"Oh, come on! We won't go to the Jurassic this time. We'll go to the future!" Calvin cried.
"Oh brother." Hobbes said, rolling his eyes. He knew he eventually was going to regret it, but somehow his tiger instincts told him to climb in. Against common sense, Hobbes plopped himself in.
"Next stop, the FUTURE!" Calvin cried. He made a little sound effect and the Time Machine hurtled through time and space. Calvin shrieked with joy as Hobbes crossed his legs. He had to go to the bathroom.
Calvin's mom was in the garden when she saw a greenish glow erupt through the sky, turning the sky a bright green. The neighbors jumped out from their houses as they marveled before the sight. Children hid as parents yelled and talked among themselves, worried. But there was not too much time to react when suddenly, the planet exploded, sending debris throughout the galaxy. Earth had been destroyed by the aliens.
The Time Machine skidded to a halt somewhere. It looked like a long corridor, with blinking fluorescent lights and alien patrol guards. Calvin just marveled to himself. "Wow," he stated. Hobbes just gaped and stared out the window. Calvin tapped on the alien's shoulder.
"Hi, um, can you direct me to Earth?" he asked. The alien looked down.
"Earth? Ha! Where have you been, in a cave? Earth was destroyed nearly 24 years ago!" the alien replied. Calvin's eyes opened in surprise.
"What year is it now?" Calvin asked.
"The year 2029." The guard answered. Calvin felt himself start to hyperventilate. This was big. He grabbed Hobbes on the tail to get his attention.
"Hobbes, how many years have we been gone? It's 2029 and Earth is destroyed!" Calvin shrieked.
"I would assume using the variable equation of F7 and reducing the fractions of the acute angles…" Hobbes started. Calvin cut him off.
"Just use that minus-y thing."
"Fine, fine. No respect for higher math. Let's see… we traveled 24 years into the future, and if Earth was destroyed 24 years ago, we blasted into time just as the Earth was destroyed."
"Wow. Well, I'm glad I decided to take a time travel 24 years ago." Calvin said, before it dawned on him that he could go back in time and stop Earth from being destroyed. "Wait a second! We'll use the Time Machine and stop Earth from being destroyed! We could save humanity!"
"Woah, since when did we decide to do anything heroic?" Hobbes asked.
"Since Earth was destroyed and all the tuna with it." Hobbes gasped.
"We have to save the tuna!" Hobbes cried, grabbing Calvin and frantically pressing buttons. The Time Machine spun through time again, and Calvin knew this was going to be the biggest adventure he'd ever had.
