Disclaimer: I do not own Oz. He is the creation of Joss Whedon. I just think he is not let out to play often enough

Summary: Oz is in Thailand looking to make peace with his wolf. He runs in to an old acquaintance. Takes place after the series finales of Buffy and Angel.

Author's Notes: This is an intro to my new WIP. I am still finishing Angel and Spike: the reunion tour.

He sat with his legs crossed beneath him with his pale palms turned upwards. He breathed in. I am the universe. He breathed out. I hold the moon. He breathed in again. The moon does not hold me. He breathed out again. I hold the moon. Breathe in. The moon does not control me. Breathe out. I hold the-

"Chirp. Chirp. Chirp," a cricket chirped.

Oz took another deep breath in. I hold the moon, chirp. He let a deep breath out. The moon does not chirp. He took an even deeper breath in. I hold the moon. Oz let his breath out as slowly as he could. The moon-

"Chirp. Chirp. Chirp." insisted the cricket.

Go on little cricket, be at one with the universe. Oz took another breath in. I hold the-

"Chirp."

Oz bent over his legs and rested his head in the dewy grass. He turned his head to the left and found himself face to face with his insect companion.

"Chirp," it said.

"So, it is you who disturbs my meditation," Oz said quietly.

The cricket did not budge. "Chirp. Chirp."

Oz pulled himself to his feet and walked over to his vehicle. Oz was now driving a Daihatsu Hi-Jet. He rummaged around in the back and found what he was looking for, an empty peanut butter jar. He unscrewed the lid. Oz reached down and plucked a few blades of grass from the ground. He put the grass into the jar.

"Hey little fella, Uncle Oz has something special for you," Oz cooed.

"Chirp." The cricket had given away its position.

Oz reached down, scooped up the cricket, and dropped him in the jar. Oz screwed the lid on tight. He took a utility knife from his pants pocket and poked a few air holes in the lid. Oz held the jar up to his eyes and looked at the hapless creature. "This is what happens to things you can't control," he said.

Oz walked over to the Hi-Jet and climbed into the driver's seat. He reached over and sat the jar down in front of the passenger seat. Oz started the van and drove off into the muggy night.
