A/N: Okay, so I got REAL bored and decided to write a one-shot. This happens right after Tobias learns who his father is in number 23, and how he tells the Animorphs who his father is. Yeah, I don't plan on it being long. I kinda wrote it too help me with the writers block that I've been having on Animagi: The Journey. Anyways, enjoy!

My Father

I needed some time too cool down a bit. Rachel had invited me over so we could celebrate my birthday, but one thing remained on my mind that I could never forget. My father's name…

After flying around for I while, I had managed to calm down somwhat, I headed to Rachel's house.

"Tobias!" Rachel exclaimed, as I flew in. "I thought you'd be here sooner. You can morph to human, my family's out for the day."

(Sure,) I replied. Quickly I morphed to human. I grew, the beak softened and retracted, turning into a human nose and mouth. My talons turned to human feet. Fingers sprouted from my wings, and my wings reverted to human arms and hands.

Once I had completed the morph, Rachel produced a cake with a solitary candle on it and sang me happy birthday.

After that, I demorphed and flew home to my meadow, Rachel seemed to be able to tell that something was wrong with me, troubling me.

Night fell quickly, and I huddled closer to the trunk of my favourite tree. Ax galloped up beside the tree.

(How did it go?) he asked.

(It went well enough.) I replied, then added, (They did wonder whether or not to infest me, but decided against it. They thought I was street trash.)

(Learn anything of value?)

(I might have. But it'll have to wait till later…)

After that Ax left. I felt a pang of realization. If Elfangor was my father, and Ax was his little brother, then that meant he was my uncle in human's terms…

I did drift into a shallow sleep, but I woke up the next morning at first light. It was a school day for the others, so I went about my usual Yeerk monitoring, after breakfast of course. But Jake had planned a mission for tonight, a meeting of The Sharing. We needed to make sure that they still didn't want to infest me, and we could gather some much needed information on the invasion.

I planned to tell Ax first, I hoped he could take it better then I could.

It took me awhile, but just before school ended, I found Ax. (Ax-man! Could I tell you something if you promise not to tell the others yet?)

(Yes, Tobias.)

(Yesterday, I found out who my father is…)

(Yes?)

(My father was… Elfangor.)

That definatly got his attention. He skidded to a stop and almost tripped over a fallen tree. (You are serious?)

(I wouldn't joke about something like this.)

(You do not want me to tell the others?)

(Not yet. I'd prefer if I tell them.)

(Very well. I'll keep your secret.)

Then we took off for Cassie's barn, last minute planning. I fluttered to my usual place in the rafters, Ax entered in human morph.

"We need to decide on the morph to use for this mission," Jake started. "This is only a spy mission, not a full out assault on the Yeerks, unless they start it."

I used private thought speak, (Cassie. I know who my father is. I'm telling you second, I already told Ax. My father was Elfangor…)

Cassie's mouth fell open, the others stared at her. "What is it Cassie?" Jake asked.

"She just figured out that this mission is insane," Marco prompted.

Cassie shook her head and looked at me. "It's what he just told me."

"What?" they all looked at me expetantly.

(I found out who my father is…)

"Who?"

(My father was… Elfangor…)

"You're joking right?" Marco asked skeptically.

(Nope. Why would I?)

"I guess you have a point," Jake replied, then returned to planning, but I could see the ghost of a grin on his face.

(Seems we've both got something in common, Tobias,) Ax told me.

(Yeah Ax-man, we do.)
