Preface
This is just a short little Chapter that continues from the Season Finale of Gilmore Girls.
Rory cursed as she watched her mother walk to her car from the house. Lorelai looked longingly at Rory. How could she have been so stupid? She stood gazing at her mother for a long while. She knew what her mother was thinking, but Rory knew she was wrong. Her mother thought that she knew everything about Richard and Emily. She thought that they would turn her sweet daughter into a social butterfly. But it wasn't Lorelai's choice, it was time to turn the wheel over to Rory, this was her life and she intended to live it as she wanted. Rory walked out of the library and to the steps.
"I am kind of tired." She said to her grandparents that were sitting in the living room drinking tea looking distressed.
"Good night dear" said Emily Gilmore.
"Yes, good night Rory." Richard followed. She walked up the steps and opened the door to her room. Rory hadn't seen it in a while; she hadn't needed the rescuing of her grandparents lately. It looked different then how she had remembered it. Was this really how she had kept it? The room was fun and inviting, yet comfortable and privet. She trembled as she touched the pictures of her and Lane stuck in the mirror edges. Old hair and make-up magazines lay in a neat pile on the bed and the room smelled of rose petals. Rory sat on the bed and jumped up and down a little to feel the springy mattress. Then she remembered something. She reached her hand underneath the bed and pulled out a box. It was her Dean box; pictures of them together brought tears to her eyes. There were pieces of paper torn from her diary about him in there. Some from when she was angry, and some from when she was deliriously happy. The tears in her eyes began to fall faster until her face was red and tear streaked. She lay in her bed for a long time staring at the ceiling. She was going to start her life anew. Tomorrow she would redecorate, and that was just the beginning. New boyfriend, new interests, new house, new life, and even…new parents.
