It was another day under the tyranny of Madame Margaret. Matilda Beatles, one of the few remaining females not working for the tyrant, yawned as she woke up. Her twin brother, Mahorao, did the same. But instead of lying back down, he jumped out of bed and began shaking Tilly.

"Wake up sis' o' mine. Rise n' shine silly Tilly!"

Tilly was always grumpy at first light, and she wasn't afraid to show it.

"Go away Ma'o! Oi was oop again late last noight wit' Mum."

Maho was about to say something when his mother's voice called up the stairs.

"Maho! Tilly! Breakfast!"

Tilly shot up and took off down the stairs, "Race ya, Ma'o!"

Maho was the swiftest runner in his family. He took off after his sister, surpassed her, and beat her to the table.

Tilly frowned and continued in her sibling's wake until she too, reached the table.

Their father joined them, followed by their mother with a pot of honey-sweetened oatmeal. She served a portion to them before serving herself.

Maho and his father began wolfing down their food down. Tilly was thinking of other things as her mother began to slowly enjoy her meal. She noticed her daughter's mood.

"Tilly, what's wrong?"

Tilly looked up, "Wha'? Oh, nothin'. Just the fact that Margaret is stealin' new recruits."

Kuki sighed. Margaret was always kidnapping new recruits, and Tilly was always apprehensive and cautious. Maho was also in danger. That's why she and Wally always trained them in self-defense, using their experience as Kids Next Door agents. The time was coming, but it wasn't now.

"I know dear," Kuki sighed, "Rose and Baz are in the same position as you."

Tilly nodded.

Kuki smiled, "Now eat up, Tilly."

Tilly's eyes shone with understanding, like she had heard her mother's thoughts. As Tilly began eating, her inquisitive eyes did not miss the look passed between her parents.
