The following story is fiction. That means I made it up in my own twisted little mind. I make no claim of the characters or anything like that, just the plot and stuff. Oh! And bytheway even though I'm going to use the Japanese names, I'll spare you the horrifying use of Japanglish... (the anime fan-fic vets probably know best what I'm talking about)
Here And Now
Prologue
The city streets always have this distinct scent that lets you know excatly what sort of neighborhood you've wandered into. It's this pungent aroma of stale garbage, wet cement and, on occasion, fresh death, though whether its human or vermin is hard to distinguish. Most people who wander through any city for long enough will find themselves in the same back alley walking on loose gravel and past garbage bins that are accented with bug-filled weeds and maggot-infested chunks of rotting food that had unfortunately missed thier target. Linning the broken-wood guarded backyards and rusty chain-link fences are the cold remains of everyones best friends; Jack, Jonnie and Jose, their deliciously fermented insides staining the ground and turning the loose dust and gravel into hard chunks that would later be trampled by a passerby. During the day these places are the perfect shortcut for any teenaged kid who's pocket jingle with silver coins as they anxiously head to the local arcade or conviniance store. At night is when the true heart of this beast comes out to play. A dark alley can serve many and all purposes, for those with or without money, it all depends on what you're looking for.
