The New Recruits: Beginning

Chapter 1: An almost-normal day

Note from Roll: I REALLY REALLY REALLY felt I had to write this fic. It's just been going on in my head, but I thought it was time to write it up now. For now you can see a pic of three of the characters (middle row, from left to right: Feather, Dash Duberu, Smash Brachiosaurus, and at the top, Slash Cat) here: http/img. for the disclaimer! I dun own any of the MegaMan X stuff (believe me I'd love to n.n) except from Slash Cat, Smash Brachiosaurus, Feather, and Dash Duberu. Those guys come later though, so on with the fic!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a normal day at Hunter Base. Well, as normal as you could get on a day when the newly registered Hunters were supposed to arrive...

And when you felt like you were going to explode from boredom, even if everyone else was running around like headless chickens with excitement, lots of jobs still to do.

That's how Axl felt, staring at a single, strange smiling cloud out of a window. The cloud had been hovering there for the past few days, smiling its creepy smile.

Actually, it was rather beginning to scare him. Why didn't it stop, even just to rest its face muscles? Oh yes, because clouds don't have face muscles, and this one could have smiled its dream-like little smile at him all day without a rest.

Checking to see that no flying Reploids (or anything else for that matter) were behind it, Axl took aim and fired at the cloud. The cloud broke apart for a moment, and then stuck itself back together, still smiling.

Axl slammed his fist against his head in defeat and wondered if anyone had something for him to do.

Meanwhile, Zero was busy having a "V.B.D" (Very Bad Day). About 50 different files had fallen onto the floor and had to be cleaned up, and the fact that Axl, instead of choosing to do his original decision to be useful, was now being chased by a very annoyed X (right outside his office, too) wasn't making things any easier.

X was holding a half-used black marker pen with a very fuzzy tip, and as Zero turned around to pick up another file, he noticed that X now sported a rather strange looking face on his helmet and a moustache under his nose, as well as doodles on his arm. Axl, meanwhile, was running ahead of X by a lot, and it seemed the orange-haired Hunter would have escaped by miles...

…If Massimo hadn't been walking down the corridor. Axl stopped for a moment or two to let him past, and then X caught up with him.

Knowing there would be a lot of violence for either one or the both of them to tell him later, Zero shut the door and continued to clean up the few files that were still lying around, ignoring the thuds, grunts and yells, and what sounded to be a rather large object (or rather, TWO rather large objects, Axl had transformed into Silver Horn and Massimo had got in the way of his tidal wave) hitting the wall outside with all the silence, gentleness and grace of a pair of refrigerators filled with cement-covered bricks falling from the sky.

Zero rolled his eyes and continued to work, while outside the fight was being resolved with more less-than-necessary damage.

And outside the base, still hovering and smiling, was the same weird cloud that started it all, grinning endlessly as if it KNEW that this whole incident was its fault, and it was proud of itself.

Note from Roll: So, what do ya think? Should I bother trying to include humour? Is this story okay so far? Do you want to read more? Reviews would be nice, please :)
