Drowning Sorrows Part III

"Okay, that's it," Eric muttered as he dumped his friend on his living room couch for the fourth time that week. "I was starting to like you, Calleigh, and you had to go and get like this." He sighed. "Oh, who am I kidding? I love you, Cal, but not when you're drunk." This off his chest, he felt somewhat better, but not completely. "We'll talk tomorrow," he said sternly- even though he knew she couldn't hear him- and went to bed.

"Calleigh, wake up."

Calleigh groaned. Her brain registered someone was speaking to her; however, she had no idea who it was and didn't plan on opening her eyes any time soon. "Go 'way."

"Calleigh Rebecca Duquesne, if you don't open your eyes right now, I will push you off the couch." The voice sounded smug. "And I know that won't feel good for your headache."

The voice didn't sound very friendly, she noted, and forced her deep blue eyes open. Eric was standing almost on top of her, looking angry indeed. Well, not angry, just –

"This is the last time, Cal."

Calleigh struggled to sit up.

"Next time-" Eric stopped at the sight of tears in her eyes. "Oh, hell, Calleigh, I don't want there to be a next time. "I want to be with you already." He sighed in frustration.

Blinking to ward off the dizziness, the former ballistics expert asked simply, "What do you mean?"

"I want to be there for you all the time!"

"Oh."

"Calleigh, I- I love you." Eric looked down at his hands, unable to meet her gaze.

"Hey Delko," she drawled. She leaned over to whisper in his ear, her warm breath tickling his neck. "Wanna hear a secret?"

He shrugged. "Okay."

"I love you, too." The words were barely audible, but he caught them.

He quickly turned his head to say something, but somehow his aim was off, and his lips brushed hers in a tender kiss.

Surprised at how good it felt, Eric leaned back only to catch a breath; then he kissed her again, harder this time.

Calleigh moaned into his mouth, wrapping her arms around his waist. He pulled her closer, relishing the feel of her body against his.

When they finally broke apart, Eric panted, "Water… headache… hangover…"

"Duquesnes don't get hangovers," Calleigh informed him breathlessly before bringing her lips down to meet his once more.
