Author's note: My first Metroid story. The idea came to me, and I decided to type it out. We clear on that? Good.
Remember when reading: I will switch viewpoints several times during the story. The chapter titles will show you whose point of view I've chosen. Bold paragraphs indicate Scan Visor readouts. We clear on that?

Chapter 1: Samus
-
I shot a missile at the door in front of me, and the lock broke. The door opened just as it always did, and I entered. The next room had some Chozo writing on the wall, so I activated my Scan Visor and attempted to analyze it.
The scan was 61 percent complete when a shot knocked me down. Another one of those blasted Mega Turrets, left over from a recent Space Pirate investigation of the planet, had shot at me. I promptly returned the favor with a Missile, and finished scanning.
CHOZO DATA DECODED
We can hardly believe it, but we discovered another Hatchling during searches of a Space Pirate ship which happened to crash here. He must have been taken prisoner. This one was a boy, whom we named Uyanda, after the founder of the Chozo race. We looked him over, and could find little resemblance to the first one, Samus. Nevertheless, we will take care of him in the same way. We see some potential in him. Maybe, just maybe, his courage can match that of the first one.
I nearly lost my balance. "There was ANOTHER one the Chozo raised?" I thought. "This is a joke! I've never heard of him before. Maybe I've just never met him."
My thoughts were interrupted, however, when three Wave Troopers dropped in. They had, apparently, been left behind with the other equipment. I promptly made a wide motion with my right hand, and my arm cannon converted to Wave Beam mode. I dodged left and right as I charged up a shot, and finally fired, shocking one Trooper.
A few more charged shots took out that Trooper and the next, but the last one had slipped behind me and grabbed me. I couldn't move my arm enough to shoot him. "Did these beasts get smarter?" I thought to myself.
Then, a miracle happened. A Missile rocketed out of nowhere and struck the Wave Trooper, causing him to drop me. I quickly turned and finished him off, then looked over to try to see where the Missile came from. What looked like another Power Suit user was standing there. "You should be more careful, whoever you are," he said.
I switched to my Scan Visor and got a 38 percent scan, but whoever it was managed to get away. "Darn it," I thought. "But who was that? It looked like he was wearing a Power Suit, but it didn't quite look like mine. Could it have been-? Well, there's no point worrying. I guess I should return to my ship and analyze the data I got from the scan."

As a matter of fact, yes, it was. But Samus doesn't know that yet, so don't go telling her.
