wolfling: I don't own Star Trek: Enterprise, Malcolm Reed, Charles Tucker III (Trip) or their respective actors (sadly).Nor do I own the song 'Painkiller' by TurinBrakes (they rock, check them out).

Also, I realise that Malcolm is aquaphobic (awh...sort of) but I doubt he's terrified of a little april shower, seeing as they're damn annoying and keep invading the British Summer! Either way, for this little random ficlet, let's pretend he's only afraid of vast quantities of the stuff which actually has a depth to it.

Summer Rain, dripping down your face again

Summer Rain, praying someone feels the same

-Painkiller, by Turin Brakes.

From where I was standing, it looked like he might have gone insane, or frozen.

I don't know what it was like for him.

He was just standing there, looking up in wonder with his hand out. I honestly thought he'd seen rain and gone mad.

It was on the cold side of lukewarm, and it was ruining our experiments. So why was he just standing there?

"Malcolm, you're getting wet!"

He turned his head to face me, and he was smiling. Not a smirk, a sneer or a grin. He was genuinely smiling.

"Trip, I know what it is I'd forgotten. I'd forgotten home."

And he turned back to the rain, totally in wonder, and in my opinion at least, for a few moments he was back home again.
