Lordaeron – Bastion of Hope

Prologue

That day draws near – For I am Gul'dan... I am darkness incarnate. I will not be denied.

The kingdom of Azeroth was the mightiest of all the human nations before the coming of the age of chaos. They were ruled by the wise and just King Llane, they stood as a beacon of light and truth throughout the known world, however the lands of Azeroth were devastated by the Horde in the first war.

Medivh the son of Aegwyn – last Guardian of the Order of Tirisfal, the one with the inheritance of great power had evil festering inside him. With his mastery over the arcane energies he was able to delve into the forbidden arts of Necromancy, his hunger for power became stronger and each minor success threw him deeper into the dark abyss of madness. It was while exploring the infinite secrets of the Great Dark Beyond in the midst of swirling chaotic hallucinations, that he first encountered the aberrant, murderous denizens of that place.

Medivh desired complete domination over Azeroth, and used his knowledge of Tirisfal to strike a bargain with Gul'dan the Warlock, mightiest of the dark rulers. He told Gul'dan of an ancient tomb lost beneath the north sea that contains the Daemon lord Sargeras.

A dark portal was opened by Medivh, where the sinister forces of the Horde were channeled through from the dark realm to the mortal world. Over a war lasting five long years the Orcish armies raised Azeroth to the ground. Medivh however did not live to see his plans come to fruition, a bold Azerothian raiding party broke into his tower and slew him.

The greatest loss for the peoples of Azeroth, came when King Llane was killed as Stormwind Keep fell under siege and overthrown by the Orcish Hordes. The Valiant Anduin Lother, Knight errant in the Brotherhood of the Horse, managed to get survivors off the shores of their decimated homelands to the sanctuary of Lordaeron.

After the arrival of Azerothien refugees King Terenas formed a council of delegates, from each of the seven kingdoms under his rule. After recounting the tales of Carnage and destruction brought by the invaders of Azeroth, the Steward Lord Anduin Lother convinced the sovereign of Lordaeron to unite. After much arguing it was agreed that Anduin Lother would be appointed the general command of the armies of the Alliance, With Admiral Daelin Proundmoore, Ruler of the seaside kingdom of Kul Tiras as the navel commander.

Thoras Trollbane, lord of Stromgarde, was also quick to offer his support to the newly forged Alliance, sensing that the time for glorious battle was at hand. Alonsus Faol, Abbot of the now destroyed Northshire Abbey girded their priests with swords of light to defend the heavens. The Stoic Dwarves of Ironforge Also pledged allegiance. The reclusive elves of Silvermoon ventured forth from the shadowy forests of Quel'thalas to offer their services.

Thus, united in arms against a common foe, the Alliance stands upon the shores of destiny and awaits the coming of the Tides of Darkness.
