Vertigo
by Ano Sa
It was the sense of falling that kept her awake.
Here she stood, her light sleeping gown curlingsoft against her ankles.
She stood here, looking into the depth of a huge crater.
Her feet, curled over the edges, was slowly staining with the black soil and soot of incinerated grass.
This, she wondered, must be like falling in love.
This sense.
Swirling, surging, dizziness (is like falling in love)
with Sasuke...
Hours ago, she had stood here alongside Naruto and Kakashi.
They had wounds (when she squints all she sees are black, orange, red; mostly red.)
They all had looked down and seen the mangled mess Sasuke's husk was.
Sakura had turned away. Alive, barely breathing, infinitely close to death, a line approaching, she could handle.
But this? She turned away.
But now where the pit laid, all Sakura could see was the blackness of a void. It reached up and brushed against her skin and tugged at her heavy fingertips.
And Sakura knew this feeling, an urge to mindlessly jump.
She had felt it so many times before, everytime and anytime she looks at Sasuke, at his dark magnetizing eyes.
So she stepped, one tilting toe, and over.
