As Time Passes

Another Paper Fan

She was eating slices of watermelon sprinkled with salt. The reason why she had been eating more of it, more than the usual anyway was because she was craving for the stuff. Despite the fact that watermelons were pricey, she was able to have at least a slice of it every day because of her husband, the Uchiha Sasuke.

"Sakura?" spoke the baritone of Sasuke as he began to look for his wife. His heart began to beat slightly faster when she did not answer. "Sakura?" Poking his head into the living room, he found her sitting on a rocking chair, reaching for another slice of watermelon.

"Hey, Sasuke-kun," greeted Sakura as she smiled, her left hand resting on the swell of her belly. Walking towards his wife, he sat down on the floor near Sakura, his hand resting near her left one. "So, only a month to go and you're going to become a father and all of Konoha will celebrate at the birth of the heir of the Uchiha Clan, our Clan."

"I don't want my son to be viewed as a mere Uchiha, like I was when we were younger," muttered Sasuke bitterly as he spread open his hand on the swell of her belly. Sakura smiled as she rested her left hand atop his own hand.

"Okay then, we won't tell but at least our friends should know." Sasuke removed his hand and stood up. Pocketing them, he spoke once more.

"I know they're yours but are they mine? Considering, of course, all the things I've done in the past."

"Of course they are. If they weren't, they wouldn't have done all that they did for you," berated his wife slightly. It took him a while before he said anything.

"Must they come to see him? Forgive me for being selfish but it has been a while since I've last seen a child born into this Clan." Sakura's gaze softened.

"Look at the wall above the fireplace, Sasuke-kun. Look at what I made earlier." The onyx eyed male turned around. Hanging above the fireplace were three handmade paper fans, in the same style and color of the Clan symbol. In her neat calligraphy were the names Uchiha Sasuke, Uchiha Sakura and Uchiha Satoshi.

My thoughts on how the two of them would react, a month before their son is born. And yeah, I made Sasuke slightly cynical in this story but isn't he cynical to begin with?

And leave him alone, he should have enough time to spend with his own son on the day of his birth.

In any case, these stories aren't going to be long, since they're the type devoid of any major storyline. If these one-shots inspire you to write any more, by all means go ahead.
