"Police have appealed to the general public today for any information on a mysterious hit-and-run accident which has left a young woman injured. The woman was found early this morning by a jogger and was rushed to General hospital, where doctors have described her condition as serious, but stable.

There are also appeals from both police and medical staff at the hospital for family or friends of the woman to come forward. Paramedics have issued the following statement.

"We are currently taking awaiting for either family or friends of a woman in her late twenties to come forward and give us a proper identification. A member of the public found the woman this morning, but paramedics and police have been unable to find anything to give us a name. She had no wallet, credit cards, purse or mobile phone, so we appeal for anyone who knows her to please come forward and identify her. We will be publishing leaflets if we still cannot find a name for this woman."

The woman has been described as having light brown hair to her shoulders and dark eyes. She appears to be in her mid to late twenties and is of medium build. There does not seem to be any birthmarks that can give a positive ID.

The hospital also had this to say.

"We ask that any member of the public who believes they may have information on the woman to refrain from calling our hospital directly. Our telephone lines have been made to handle medical emergencies and medical related calls. If a member of the public wishes to identify the woman, they are to contact the hotline number that police have set up to deal with this mystery. Any calls relating to her may delay an emergency from being dealt with and may prevent our medical staff from being prepared for an incoming emergency."

The hotline number will be released at the end of this programme…"

The television was turned off, the staff resumed their duties, happily content that the message had been released. Upstairs, the woman lay, oblivious to the world around her.
