Summary: Hikaru gets a tattoo. Light akihika shonen-ai drabble.
Standard disclaimers apply.
"You got a TATTOO?" Akira says, almost shrieking.
"Yeah!" Hikaru exclaims excitedly, missing the alarm in Akira's voice. "Do you like it?"
Hikaru proudly displays his new tattoo: the kanji for brightness – aki – within a circle, with two black circles on either side.
"Isn't it cool?" he continues. "See, the circles are go stones and the kanji is – well, it's – it's for you..." Hikaru looks a little embarrassed, finally sensing that Akira isn't as enthusiastic about his body art as he is.
Akira feels very flattered and even thinks Hikaru looks very cute when he is so obviously seeking his approval. Then he remembers his irritation that Hikaru would do something like that to his body.
"That isn't how I write my name, Hikaru." Akira says, exasperatedly. "It's A-ki-ra in katakana, not kanji."
"I know. But aki can be read as Akira too, and if it was in katakana someone might realize that we….I mean, I didn't want anyone to know, in case they somehow saw it…"
Akira is impressed by Hikaru's foresight; they try so very hard to keep their relationship discreet, too hard to let it be ruined by one little tattoo. He still isn't thrilled by it, though. He liked Hikaru's body perfectly fine the way it was, and he hates imagining the pain it must have caused him. He cringes a little.
"Don't you like it?" Hikaru doesn't understand why Akira doesn't seem to like the tattoo. It's not like he has a large breasted, half naked woman prominently and permanently inked on his forearm. Three go stones and a kanji, hardly four centimeters across, on his lower back.
"I suppose…" Akira concedes. He doesn't want to upset Hikaru, and in truth he thinks he could come to like it, so long as Hikaru doesn't get any more tattoos. He can't get over being flattered by it all. It's a mark of what the other pro once told him were his two devotions: Akira and go, in that order.
Hikaru smiles, looking genuinely happy and he put his arms around Akira's neck, pulling him closer.
"I'm glad," he affirms, "It hurt, a little, but it doesn't matter. If it's you, I'll go through anything."
Yes, Akira thinks, as Hikaru leans in to kiss him, yes, I think I don't mind his tattoo much. In fact, I believe I rather like it.
