WD-40

If I stretched my arms out

As far as I could

If I reached my hands up

As high as I could

If I sang to you

As loud as I could

Would it make a difference to You?

You

Who stays in no place long

But stays in my life forever

You

Who stretches from the peak

Of the highest mountain

To the heart of the tiniest ant

To the center of this very revolving earth

And back out to me again

Cause if I could be near to you

In majesty

And wealth

And Love

And Grace

I would

Oh, I would

And if I could measure up

To you

In any way

Whatsoever

I would do backflips around the

globe and then turn around and do that again

and again

until my arms break

and my knees fracture

and I sink into the Caspian Sea

I would die

And I would die happy

But since I'm not suicidal

Not yet

Not ever

I'll just opt to

Leave all the opportunities lying

Like unopened treasure chests

On the floor

In the dust

And cobwebs

On top of what used to be called

"Ambition"

Which I have long since abandoned for the joy

Of sin

And the joy

Of being useless

And now I wonder why the joy of

Giving in to temptation

Seems so rusty…

However, that's nothing a can of WD-40 can't fix, right?

Right?

RIGHT?

And as I spray and endless supply of

Aerosol-canned rust remover onto the rusty temptation

It gets more and more

Like the chain on my now-I-can-drive-watch-me-go brother's bicycle

And less like the grill on the new Mercedes my neighbors bought

And I sit down

Exhausted

And breathing in toxic fumes

And slowly I lose consciousness

Whatever happened to dying happy?

Whatever happened to living a godly life?

But then heroic music plays

And here comes my knight in shining armor

(NO, NOT GREG, WYSS!)

Saving my unworthy buttocks yet again

And just like last year

Okay, maybe month

Or maybe week…

OH, ALRIGHT…

Just like you did yesterday

And do today

And will do tomorrow

You pull me out and lock the door

And leave the key to me

Oh, how I wish you would have destroyed the key

Because it fits like butter into the lock

Easy in…

Not so easy out…
