Epilouge

Disclaimer: I don't own anything InuYasha, and I don't want to. It's much nicer to be an adamant fan.

A/N: This is my first fanfiction to ever write. Please be patient, I'll be trying to update at least once every week.

InuYasha grinned as Kagome lightly kissed him on the cheek. "Hurry home, you hear?" he ordered. "It's getting close to time and I want to be with you in case anything happens."

Kagome nodded. "I know Inu. Don't worry. My checkup is the first one tomorrow, so I should be home by lunchtime." A light end-of-September breeze tugged a few strands of hair loose from her low ponytail and caressed her face. "Anyways, I should get home now. Mom's expecting me."

InuYasha grinned again knowing that Kagome's forgetful mother most likely wouldn't even remember that tomorrow was Kagome's eight-month check up, and that Kagome really just missed her family. 'Can't blame her,' he thought as he swept Kagome up, the way a newly married groom would his bride. Transportation through the well had gotten so much more difficult these last few months that the only trips Kagome made were for her check ups. InuYasha checked to make sure Kagome was comfortable in his arms and was rewarded with a hard kick from the large, round bulge of her belly to his. "Damn he's getting strong," InuYasha commented.

"He is your son," replied Kagome.

InuYasha gave her his smuggest smirk. "Too true," he said, and winked. He planted a soft kiss on her lips and then leaped through the well.

Light poured in from the open door of the well house as InuYasha helped Kagome surface from the square enclosure. "I love you," he said, pulling her into one last hug for the evening.

"I love you too," she replied. "I'll saee you tomorrow afternoon."

"Mmmkay. I'll be here to get you." He let her go from his embrace and watched her climb the few steps up before turning around and launching himself back through the well.

Back in the Feudal Era, InuYasha realized that it was already becoming dusky outside. Out of habit, he began making his way to Kaede's hut. Thinking better of it, he turned around and walked towards the forest. Sleeping away from the village wasn't an option for him now, not since the day Kagome had told him of her pregnancy. He had been accostomed to it before then, and now he took advantage of the opprutunity for the luxury he enjoyed so much.

As the dusky sky began to darken even more, InuYasha reached the edge of the forest. He wandered in aimlessley, his eyes scanning the horizon for any large trees. Spotting one, he changed his direction slightly and hopped over a few sposts of underbrush to get to it. "Yup," he said to himself, "I found a really good one this time." Amber eyes traced the towering oak until they met a thick branch nearly parallel with the ground. His knees bent, ready to jump, as an evening breeze tossed his hair.

InuYasha stood up and whipped around. The wind blew again, bringing with it an all too familiar scent that made him wish he had stayed at Kaede's hut after all. He watched as Kikyou's figure approched him. But as she came closer, InuYasha's eyebrows arched and his curiosity spiked. A small bundle filled her arms, wrapped in a thick, dark piece of cloth.

"What the hell..?" he whispered as Kikyou closed the last few yards between them. She opened her mouth to speak, but was cut off by a loud wail erupting from her arms.

InuYasha jumped back and defensively put his hand on the hilt of Tetsaiga before he registered the sound. He peered down at the squirming bundle and met the gaze of a large pair of amber eyes.
