ok people, this is my first story so go easy on me.
What You Hear is What You Get
Chapter 1-The Beginning
It's a humid Saturday morning, about 3 a.m. and Harry's sitting in his bed, quietly trying to write.
"Why can't I think of anything?" he says under his breath.
He stands up and walks toward the trunk at the foot of his bed. He quietly opens it up and pulls out his broomstick.
"Maybe if I can talk to Ron it'll be easier."
With that he walks to and opens up his window, being very careful not to make too much noise. He hops onto his broomstick and off into the night he goes.
At the same time Harry's thinking up a storm in his room, Hermione is sitting up in hers, crying, thinking of the fight from a few hours before……
"Is this what I get for being a great boyfriend? I come in on your birthday to find you and my best friend's brother together? That's bullshit, we're done, this is over, I'm not taking this anymore!"
"Harry, it's not what it looks like! You've got to believe me, Fred was only dropping off Ron's present because he's sick."
"It doesn't look like just a present, more like my girlfriend and my best friend's brother making out!"
"It wasn't my fault Harry, I was thanking him when he came up and started kissing me, and that's when you walked in."
"We'll talk about this later!"
The more she thought about it, the more she cried.
Also at the same time, Ron was up in his room, trying to find a spell that would soundproof his room. He couldn't sleep and needed to practice his drums, since he hasn't all summer.
"Work, Damn it!"
Harry gets to Ron's house about an hour after leaving the Dursley's. When he gets to Ron's window, he can hear the banging of drums.
"Guess Ron never got that spell working."
Harry opens Ron's window quietly and crawls through, pulling his broomstick behind him. Remembering that he forgot his guitar at home, he walks to Ron's closet and pulls out his practice guitar that he leaves at Ron's all the time.
"Hey Harry." Ron says as he notices Harry going toward the closet.
"You might want to quiet down a bit there Ron, you never got that spell to work. Inaudigra." Harry mutters.
"Thanks, Harry."
"No problem."
After Harry checks out the room and finds that the spell worked right, he plugs in the guitar and plays a couple chords, changing them around every once in a while.
"So, uh, Harry. What's going on between you and Hermione?"
"Umm, we're in a fight. I walked in on her and Fred making out yesterday."
"You've got to be kidding me. I swear I'll kick his ass for this. I'm sorry Harry."
"Oh, it's alright. We'll work this out, everything always turns out ok in the end."
He stands for a moment, thinking. Then he starts playing again and singing.
"I'm always second best to you. There's nothing I can do about it. All I can do is say goodnight, because things will be better tomorrow."
"Wow, that was really good Harry." said Ron.
"Oh thanks."
"Crap, its getting late and I still have to get my stuff ready to leave tomorrow." said Ron.
"Me too, I guess. Well, I'll see you tomorrow Ron. Are you still picking me up?"
"Yeah, we'll be there around 6:30 in the morning."
"I gotta go, bye."
"Bye Harry."
Harry jumped out the window and headed off towards Privet Drive. Once there, he carefully climbed back through his window, only to find Uncle Vernon sitting there waiting for him.
"And where would you be at this time of night boy?"
"Around, now if you don't mind, I have to get ready for tomorrow. Goodnight."
"You better watch it boy, after all we've done for you, you should be begging on your knees for me to leave you be."
Leaving the room, Vernon quietly said goodnight and slammed the door.
