Work vs. Work
By: TF

(One-Shot)

"But, Sakura, I don't want to."

"It isn't hard, Naruto."

"But it's work, and I don't wanna do work."

"Dobe, what do you think being a ninja is?"

"You stay outta this, ya bastard. Besides, being a ninja isn't work, it's a way of life."

"You're an idiot."

"Why are you both so mean to me?"

"Because, Naruto, you're being stupid. There's nothing to make this different from the work we do as a ninja."

"But we get paid to be ninja."

"And you're getting paid to do this."

"But it's work with flowers, and with Ino, and Ino doesn't like me."

"Naruto, deal with it. Sasuke agreed."

"What do you mean I agreed. I remember doing no such thing."

"Come on, both of you, this isn't that hard."

"You're only saying that because you're a girl, and girls like flowers."

"The idiot has a point."

Sakura stared at her two teammates in amazement for a moment before shaking her head. Sheesh, it was only carrying them into the shop, it wasn't like they had to help make the arrangements of anything, like Shika-

Her thoughts stopped and she grinned slowly, eyes gleaming as she looked across the street at the flower shop where she'd been hearing mutterings all day. With hands on her hips she turned to face her now wary teammates with a new proposal: help Chouji carry, or join Shikamaru…

She knew which one they'd pick. Besides, carrying flowers was much easier than setting traps and rebuilding property that they'd damaged in one of their 'ninja' scuffles, right?

"I hate it when she gets that look. It gives me the creeps."

"Shut up and haul these flowers before we both end up smelling like girl."

The two winced as a yelp of pain was heard during a lull in the grumbles from inside, and decided to start working faster.

Sakura peeked around the door frame, then leaned back in and gave Ino a high five around Shikamaru who was rubbing the back of his head and glaring darkly at everything. They shared a victorious look before restarting their conversation, their hands busy with stems and scissors and vases while they ignored the irritated boy at their feet.
