Finally

Ron Weasley knew his heart. He, in fact, knew it quite well. It was just his tongue that shouldn't know it as well.

He didn't mean to say it! He was caught in the heat of the moment! He and his best friend, well, their friendship would never be the same. He had always counted on her, thought she'd always be there, pestering him to study. He now was lost without her.

He was shocked when he discovered she was dating Malfoy of all people! He confronted her, asking if she was off her rocker. This is Malfoy we're talking about. THE Malfoy that had hated her and picked on her all those years.

She let her temper take over. She had screamed at him, it's her life why should he care? How Ron hated that question. Why did he care? He didn't know but his tongue knew.

"Because," he raged, "I love you Hermione!" Her eyes grew wide and her jaw dropped. "That's why!" he spat, "Are you happy? I said it!" And with those parting words, he stormed out, his face 3 shades redder than it should be.

His feet led him to the lake. He settled down on the shore, throwing rocks into the vast blue water. His thoughts were flying a mile a minute, each about the girl he had shocked tonight.

Soon darkness engulfed Hogwarts' grounds, Ron included. He could care less about the darkness, he just knew that Hermione was back up at the castle and she probably had some questions.

A hand settled on Ron's broad shoulder. He quickly turned to see a bushy-haired, chocolate-eyed girl. The girl he wished he could have. Hermione Jane Granger. "Hey."

"Hi Hermione." replied Ron.

"I thought you'd likes to know," she said with a smile, "I broke up with Draco. I found I prefer redheads to blondes.

Ron slowly dragged his crystal blue eyes up to Hermione's deep brown and blushed down to the last freckle. (Which happened to be on the tip of his left big toe.)

"I'm so sorry I hurt you Ron. I thought I knew what was best for myself but obviously I was being an 'insufferable know-it-all.' Forgive me?" She offered him her hand.

Ron took it in his. "I couldn't possibly say no." He slowly leaned his face and she did the same. Their lips connected powerfully, and suddenly all was right in the world. They regretfully pulled apart and Hermione sighed blissfully. "Shall we go to dinner?"

Hermione nodded and they strolled leisurely back to the castle, fingers interlaced. As they entered the Great Hall, one voice was louder than the rest. "Finally!" Ginny Weasley exclaimed. That made the whole school look up at them.

Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley were finally together.
