±See-saw±

Ed sat on a sidewalk border and watched how pink devoured the sky from an unfamiliar side, casting odd light at the HQ building.

Every time he went away and returned, the world shifted. No, that wasn't why he felt nauseated, it couldn't be. It's just they shouldn't have hurried so much to run away from the town this time. Right now, he craved for a cupful of coffee - black and hot - and nothing would be too wrong.

Footsteps reverberated nicely though the chill and Ed paid no attention to them.

'Edward? How and why?'

Hughes came closer, both smile and glasses misty fresh in the spring air.

'Early train,' Ed smirked inoffensively and gestured vaguely skywards. Like Intelligence needed to ask, really. 'I'll hand the usual in and sleep for the next week.'

'Drop by us one of these days,' Hughes kept smiling. He radiated early night and homely morning and could allow himself no less. 'I'm sure there will be some free time for you after the debriefing, right?'

'It would help if he stopped sitting on the report,' voice over Ed's shoulder informed. By all signs it should've sounded sarcastic, but didn't really have strength to. He growled silently, turning.

Behind his back, Hughes sighed. Six hours on a couch were all over Colonel's face, posture and clothes. Ed suddenly found himself one morning happier.

'Though, its thickness would certainly add him some height.'

Right now, Ed felt so happy he could've sacrificed a thermosful of hot black coffee for a luxury of emptying it over Colonel's head.

'Good morning, Colonel Shit,' he grinned. 'Long time no see.'
