I don't own Pong.

He waited, alone in the dark space save for the left paddle. Beyond that was pixel after pixel of utter blackness. The right paddle waited in a restless dormancy. If only someone with just a morsel of talent would pick my side. But no. I get the clumsy dimwits that have absolutely zero hand-eye coordination.

The right paddle felt a great energy burst inside of it. A new game was starting. Eyeing the pixilated ball, he knew. He knew he would win this game. The left paddle was going down.

The left paddle started with the ball and gave a fierce hit toward the right. The right paddle was on fire. The skilled player who chose him whisked him an inch and no more, just far enough to fit the ball directly in the middle.

The right paddle replayed a conversation with the left in him mind that had happened after one of Left's easy wins. So, Rightie, how's it feel to lose again? But…you must be used to it by now, huh? A smirk played on Left's lips.

Brimming with anger, Right used all his power to hit to ball which ricocheted back to Left. After some strong maneuvering, Left was on the edge. Looks like Right would finally win, he deserved it. Left just barely salvaged a hit onto the ball and it came towards Right. An easy shot. Strategy formed in Right's mind, but ultimately he would have to do whatever his player wanted.

The ball came, pixel by pixel and Right waited for his command. Now, when the ball was closer than ever Right imagined the look on Left's face when he lost. Ah, one of the few sweet pleasures for a paddle.

The ball was now pixels away and Right became slightly anxious. Why wasn't his player moving him? Then came the dreaded words from outside the game.

"Dude, this game's stupid. Let's, like, go to the disco or something," It came from Left's player. Ha! Just like Left to want to drop out before he lost.

To Right's horror, though, his player answered back, "Rad, man. Let's get outta here," From the corner of his eye, Right saw his player leave. He saw the ball come and pass. He saw Left's malicious grin. He saw himself lose. Right felt the energy leave him and knew the game was over. He had lost. But…he should be used to it by now, right?
