Chapter 12: A Little Bit Of Romance
A/N: Thanks to everyone who reviewed! I had a great time at the dance, dancing with a bunch of guys, thanks for mentioning it in a review. And for the question: What kind of "sleeping" were Lily and James doing? Just regular sleeping. You'll know when they first shag. Just don't know if I'll describe it or leave it for your imagination... Also, because last chapter was (successfully) drama-filled (or so I've heard) this will be a romance-y fluffy chapter. Also... I've always lived a sheltered life, but I know quite a bit about some of the more... hmm... romance-y stuff you do with guys... so there will be references, and it's all for a point. So I might rate this chapter PG-13 for sexual references. There is a point so you'll see. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I own nothing. And thanks for the suggestions.
Chapter 12: A Little Bit Of Romance
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------
"They're adorable," I heard a voice say.
"Especially when they're tangled together."
"Perfect couple!"
"I'll say."
I opened one of my eyes and saw Peter, Sirius, Remus, Amelia, Edgar and Dorcas looking down on James and I. James lay asleep by my side, and I sat up. Suddenly, I felt James' arms around me, pulling me back down next to him.
"Don't go," I reckon he murmured. I heard the group giggle, laugh, sigh and aw in reassurance that the sight of us all cuddly was surely a beautiful sight.
"How did you guys get in here?" I asked, looking up at them.
"James."
"What?" I asked, and James' opened an eye.
"What are you guys doing here?"
"Did you give them the password James Harold Pot—?"
"No!" he said, cutting me off.
"Remus smuggled us the information," announced Amelia. I sighed—
"Leave," said James, shaking his hand and closing his eyes. "Give us some peace! It's Saturday!"
"No. It's Monday morning and you've already missed breakfast."
I groaned, and James' grip tightened. "C'mon, James."
"No," he said, whining.
"We have to go to class."
"Let's skive..."
"No. We've got a Prefects meeting today!"
"So? We'll get up in time for the meeting," he insisted, pulling me onto his lap and kissing me softly on the cheek.
"James!" I said, blushing.
"Just this once?" he asked giving me a look that clearly said, "You-can't- say-no-to-this-face."
"No," I said, but I couldn't help but smile.
"What shall I tell McGonagall?" asked Sirius, who was grinning.
"That we're sleeping—"
"Together—?"
"Sure—"
"James!"
"Okay, okay," said James, who was grinning. "I'm sick, and Lily's taking care of me. In my room... in my bed."
I smacked him lightly, and he kissed my nose.
"Gotcha," said Remus, who nodded and followed Sirius, and the group, out of the door.
"You're such a big baby," I said once I knew they were gone.
"But I'm your big baby," he said, grinning at me.
I kissed his lips, "And I wouldn't want it any other way."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------
I ran my hands through his hair, as the kissed deepened. We were sitting in the room we usually hold our Prefect's meeting. James insisted that he really was sick, and that a good snog would cheer him up. I started laughing... but we are snogging anyway. I pulled away at the sound of footsteps.
"James," I said sitting up on the table we were laid out on.
"Hmm?" he asked, kissing my neck.
"James! Someone's coming," I whispered.
"So?" he asked, pulling me onto his lap. "Let them come—"
"What if it's McGonagall?"
"Then it's McGonagall."
I kissed him on the lips, though I was still worried in the back of my mind. Could they take away our Head's badges for snogging on the job? My dad would kill me... and James. I broke apart as the door opened. All the Prefects walked in, and saw the position James and I were in. He stopped kissing my neck and looked up.
"Way to go, Evans!"
"Good score, Potter!"
"With a Mudblood Potter?!? Have you no decency—?"
"You just wait!" another person called. "The school will know by end of the evening."
"He's a good shag, isn't he Lily?"
"Can I leave the meeting? For just a moment?!"
I sighed in annoyance as the meeting progressed. It was hopeless trying to kill the rumour, nobody would believe me. James kept stealing glances at me, during the meeting, and kept me behind once it was over.
"Lil—I'm sorry," he said quickly, pulling me closer.
"It's okay," I said quietly. "I mean... people would start rumours regardless... and even if we stopped when I wanted to, we still would have looked bad—!"
"It was my idea—"I cut him of with a small kiss.
"Don't worry about it."
He nodded, wrapping his arms around me, and walked me towards the Great Hall for dinner.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------
Much of the next couple days were like this. James and I would walk around, receiving wolf calls, and smirks of "knowing people." When we walked together, to a Quidditch match, (Ravenclaw versus Hufflepuff) his arms around me, the whole crowd went ballistic and started yelling profound comments at us.
James and I decided that we should separate (not as boyfriend/girlfriend) by spending a night with our friends. When Amelia and I walked into the common room, we found Sirius and James, sitting down, in the deserted room, and they were talking about me.
"So you... you didn't shag her?"
"No," I heard James answer immediately, but I sensed another emotion in his voice... impatience... no... regret... maybe... hopelessness... possibly.... Maybe it was wishfulness... that he hoped we'd do it soon.
Amelia shot a glance at me... I know we shouldn't be listening... what if James caught us?
"I think we should go—"I whispered, but I cut myself off when I heard Sirius.
"Sometime soon then."
"I was hoping for her eighteenth birthday we would," he said quietly.
"That's what you were planning?" asked Sirius in awe. My mouth dropped, and Amelia nudged me to leave, but I couldn't.
"Not exactly... I was hoping that it would just sort of happen one night.... When we were snogging, you know?" said James, almost lazily.
"She a prude, you think?"
"No... and don't talk about her like that. If she's not ready I'm not going to push her."
I gulped and frowned slightly.
"What have you been doing then? Anything at all?" asked Sirius.
"Like... wanking, you mean?" he looked thoughtfully. "We've done... some stuff... but I've hadn't any time to wank with her sleeping there."
Sirius nodded, and I took the moment, to walk back through the portrait hole with Amelia, and run up to the Head's room.
"How come you hadn't told me you've done 'some stuff' with James?"
"What's there to tell?" I asked skeptically.
"Like how much stuff you've done," grinned Amelia, sitting on my bed.
I smiled slightly, "We haven't shagged... but we've done more then snog."
Amelia grinned, "He's good at stuff, then, huh?"
I nodded sheepishly, "But that's besides the point. I don't know what to make of the situation."
"Just think about it—"
I looked towards the door that led to James' room, and I frowned slightly.
"Am I ready?" I asked.
"I don't know Lil... but you love him."
"Do you think he'll be upset if we don't do anything—?"
"Sure," said Amelia nonchalantly. "But he won't break up with you!"
I sighed, "I've got a lot a thinking to do, don't I?"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------
James kissed my neck, two nights later, and I sighed.
"Something wrong love?" he asked, moving down my neck as he did so.
"Yes," I said before I knew what I was saying. He stopped and got off me.
"What's wrong?" he asked silently.
"Promise not to get mad?"
"All right," he said, sitting up.
"I heard you talking to Sirius."
"About—?"
"Me..."
"Okay..."
"And you..."
"Okay..."
"And what we've done..."
"Oh," he looked up embarrassed.
"I'm sorry... I just sort of walked in on you guys and I tried to leave but I couldn't—"
He nodded, "Is that why you've been so distant the past couple days?"
I looked up at him, pursed my lips, and nodded.
"Lily—"
I silenced him, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Tell you?"
"That you really wanted to shag," I said quietly.
"Because I love you," he said softly. "I don't want to make it seem like I'm with you for a good shag—"
"I already know you're not with me for a good shag—"
He nodded, and pulled me into a hug. "Look, I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too."
He looked around his room, and his eyes fell randomly on his calendar. "Your birthday's coming up," he said thoughtfully.
"I know what you want to do," I said quietly. "I heard you."
"How much did you hear?" he asked timidly.
"I left when you started talking about wanking and not having time—"
He blushed the deepest red, I've ever seen him blush; I couldn't blame him though.
"Maybe... maybe I should go."
That was probably my one weakness: running away from the little problems James and I have had. I don't run to anyone... I just run away to think about what I should do...
He looked up at me. "I'm really sorry Lil—"
"Don't be... it's not you're fault. Guys are naturally—"
"Naturally?"
"Like... like you," I said quickly.
He looked at me for a moment, and I felt more emotions than I could ever describe. Usually at times like this... I become rather... rather moody...
"Don't leave because of something you think I might do," said James quietly.
"Don't ask me to stay because of something you think I might do," I snapped back.
He looked up at me. "I'm not asking you to do something you don't want."
"I'm not asking you to stop doing something you love because of me."
We sat there for a moment on his bed, looking uncomfortable.
"I love you," I said quietly, frowning in disappointment of being rude to him.
"I love you, too."
We sat there quietly... "I guess I better go," I said, leaning into kiss him softly on the lips. "I'll see you in the morning."
I walked into my bedroom, and closed the door silently behind me. I had a lot of things to run through my head. My Grandpa used to say, "It doesn't matter how someone treats you, or what life throws at you; the only thing that matters is what you make of it." A lot had happened.... But what do I make if it?

A/N: There are 8 pages for you. Like I said: there are going to be little bumps in the road ahead. Some bigger than others; some easier to over-come. I don't know how many chapter this is going to take to fix, but it has a point, like everything always does. Read and Review. Also, I have a (couple more) One-shot(s) to post, I'll spend today reading over some, and seeing which I'll post. I even have other stories that I'm thinking about posting. Again, my stories (though written by a 13 year old) are not as innocent as you'd think.
