Chapter 15: Believe It!
A/N: Bloody hell! I got a lot of feedback on last chapter! You guys are awesome! Anyway, yearbook is really making me mad! Long story... Erk! Back to the story: I know James was upset but they ARE NOT BROKEN UP! I repeat NOT BROKEN UP! Thanks... also... James is grieving... I am aware of that... but it should not make him take it out on Lily. I've lost people in my family, but my friends have stayed with me, because I value them and don't take it out on them.
I did not make last chapter to turn you against James, or to turn you against Lily. Okay? Let's just see how this one goes. This takes over the evening after last chapter: I skipped classes. And WARNING: Lily will be mad. I know she will be... and she may not be entitled to be, or you may not agree with it, but people act on feelings... and are not always thinking clearly. So if you get mad at Lily please don't review and say, "Lily's a prat! Git continues on with British swear words..."
Disclaimer: I own nothing but I want to play hockey!
Believe It!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------
After the incident today, I turned in to the Head's dormitory right as I finished classes. I was sitting in the walk-in bath that was in between the Head's rooms; James and I shared. But I just didn't talk about James. Not after today. He didn't have to take it out on me. He didn't take it out on Sirius... or Remus... or Peter... or any of the teachers that scolded him for not paying attention in class. Feeling stressed, I was put the bubbles on extra high so they would massage my back, and make the usually transparent water, translucent.
My eyes closed sleepily, as I relaxed in the bed, and then I heard the door creak. I looked up to see James closing the door quietly, and he walked towards the bath.
"May I help you?" I asked coldly.
"Lil—"
"Oh wait, maybe I should say, 'Oh what honour do thy owe ye, greatest boyfriend of them all?'!"
He looked away, and I moved away from the part of the bath he was near.
"Can you leave? I'm trying to take a bath... I need privacy. Not that you care. As long as I am naked, huh James?"
He shot a glare at me. "I came to apologize."
"Great timing!" I said sarcastically. "You couldn't have done it out in the halls—?"
"I noticed you weren't at dinner."
"Awe... how sweet, I'm touched James."
He shot me another look. "I'm sorry for exploding at you."
"Me too," I said, looking at my nails as though I wasn't interested.
"Why do you have to be like that? I love you, you know?"
I looked up and moved uncomfortably in the bath water. "Yeah, you love me, huh?"
"Yeah, honestly, I do."
"That's not what you said an hour ago. You said you didn't care if I cheated on me! Hell you said I only wanted you for a snog."
"But I know you wouldn't take me seriously—"
"You sure about that James?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"You wouldn't—"
"How do you know I didn't cheat on you?" I asked, running a hand through my hair. "You told me to."
"Who would you cheat on me with?" he asked, raising one of his eyebrows.
I ran a wet finger down the side of his cheek. "Now, do you think I'd tell you who I cheated on you with?"
He leaned down, as our faces were two inches away. I moved at the last second and James fell into the pool: clothes and all. Frankly, I didn't know whether to laugh, or run away. One: It was funny that I tricked him again, and he had fallen both times. Two: I was alone with my boyfriend in a bath, and I just happen to be naked.
He rose out of the water and shook his head, spraying water everywhere. "Why do always do that?"
"Do what?" I asked, moving as far away from his as I could.
"Lead me on, then turn away, and make me fall."
"It was only twice," I said impatiently.
"This was my good shirt, too," he said pulling it over his head and throwing it on the bathroom floor. His chest was toned and tan; I had only seen it once before, and it was just as I remembered it; except then I despised him.
(Flash Back)
I ran towards the Prefect bathroom as quick as I could try to take a quick bath for my date with Amos Diggory who was in seventh year when I was in fifth.
"Jinx!" I yelled quickly, and a door appeared. But as I reached out to touch the handle I found it was locked.
"Damn," I swore, someone was in there. I took out my wand, "Alohamorra!"
It softly clicked and I pushed it open only to run into someone: James Potter.
"Hey, Evans!" he said, laughing.
"What are you doing in here?!"
"Bath," he said shrugging. I stared at his chest. "Like something you see?
I glared, "Put a shirt on. And you shouldn't be in here! You're not a Prefect."
"Moony gave me the password," he shrugged again.
"Get out—!"
"Are you sure you don't like me without my shirt on—?"
"Get out!" I pushed him out of the door, but he walked back in, and I hit him with a towel. "Get out or I tell Professor McGonagall and get Remus' badge taken away—"
Panic struck his face, "All right, all right, keep your clothes on." He walked towards the door, "For all of our sake."
I threw a towel at the door, fuming. It never did work out with Amos...
(End)
I had to admit that half of me was thinking that he would say the same arrogant thing but he didn't. He walked closer to me and sat down. I tensed up as I felt his arms go around my waist.
"Where are your pants?!" I asked, my eyes going wide.
He pointed towards the floor where they sat.
"Put them back on!" I said urgently.
"Why?"
"I'm not being your toy—"
"What?!"
"It always works out the same... you replace grieving with sexual things—I won't do it, James!"
He continued to walk over to me, and he pulled me into a hug. "I'm not asking you do be."
"I'm not ready!" I pulled away from his hug. "I'm not ready!"
"Okay..."
"Leave James—"
"Lily—?"
"I said leave!" I pushed him away when he moved closer. "I'm not doing anything with you!"
"I don't want you to!"
"Then leave!"
"Look I'm sorry about yesterday."
"I heard you the first time."
"I love—"
"Okay!" I yelled pulling a towel over my chest as I stepped up and somehow manage to get out without him seeing a part of me he doesn't normally see—or so I thought.
"Lil!" he said begging.
I walked out of the bathroom and into my room, locking the door behind me, but James burst open two seconds later, a towel around his waist. I pulled my towel over my bottom-less body.
"James!"
"I'm sorry—"he said turning away.
"Get out of the room," I said warningly. He stayed silent. "Either you leave, or I leave."
Once again he remained silent and still.
"Fine. But if I walk out there with only a towel on, I don't take responsibility for what happens."
"Okay, I'm going!"
I pulled on my clothing once I knew he was gone, and I sat down on my bed. Just when you think someone grew up and stopped being a prat, they turn around and try to get you into bed. That's it. I'm going to have to do something now. I walked down into the common room. Something had to be done. When I got there I saw that he wasn't there, so I tried the Gryffindor common room. And sure enough he was sitting there on the couch. He had a duffle bag in his hand; the funeral was in two days, but he's leaving now.
He looked at me, and to the floor as I walked over to the group, and sat down ignoring James.
"Lil... aren't you going to say goodbye to your boyfriend?"
"You want me to say goodbye to that pathetic excuse for a human? A prat of a boyfriend? And a git that somehow won your friendship?" I flipped through a Witch Weekly and rolled my eyes.
"Did something happen?"
"No."
"Don't you lie, James Potter!" I stood up now. This was the great timing. "And just as a punishment I've decided that we are not going to break up... but we're going to make some rules."
"Oh really?" he asked cockily, taking a step over to me, so we were face- and-face.
"Oh yeah," I said grinning. "The first and last rule: No physical contact until I say otherwise." (A/N: HAD to do it, Mel. Lol this will be fun!)
"W-what?!"
"I didn't stutter," I replied, stepping forward, as if daring him to reach out and kiss me. "You try to touch me, kiss me, hold me, (including my hand) try to hug me, try to stop me from walking away and you'll never see me again."
"All because of what just happened?!"
"You'll thank me later," I replied, crossing my arms.
"I don't see how this'll work."
"I'm cutting you off... cross the line and I think you'll be very upset indeed. This ensures we'll do what I want to do, and we'll go as fast as I want to go. And it ensures that you'll never be able to use the pain of your mother's passing on me, by trying to shag me or snog me."
"I can't believe you're doing this!"
"Believe it!" I taunted, before walking out of the portrait hole and up to my Head's room. This had to be done; whether his mother was here or not: he as no right to do what he did today, and I-for-one don't stand for that load of bullocks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------
A/N: I thought this chapter was okay. Nothing special. But, actually... I've done this to a couple of my boyfriends that were too clingy... if it works... I don't know; I've broken up with them before I could see the results. Let's see how this works. This is definitely not one of my favourite chapters... but it was quite fun to write.
Angelbud2233 and I had a fic that was complete DRAMA: Unknown Marauders but it's gotten taken off and I know who did it! I already yelled at them: By the way, do you know there's a website where people take fan fiction off of ff.net and they make fun of it!? That's were ours went and someone reported it from there. Great, huh? Anyway... to my point, because that fic was drama you mostly have to look at it like: Okay, whatever can go wrong, make it go wrong! And that's what I did on this chapter. If I ever get another drama up here, these fics won't be as outrageous, but this is what you get.
Isn't that website awful?! They MAKE FUN of fan fiction. And I'm not supposed to know about it... it's supposed to be secret and the person that told me could get kicked out. I-for-one am utterly pissed... and I let them know it. Eek... annoying or what?
