Peace and Quiet.

Cambodia was hardly a place that Arthur Dent would call "terribly romantic" after Italy he had to admit to being a tad disappointed, Paris, or Vienna would have been better. But Ford had insisted and seems that he had consented to Arthur's wish to see Italy, now Arthur felt he should return such a favour. Although what Ford found interesting about one of the lesser known countries of Planet Earth, Arthur really couldn't see. He thought about Ford's gift from Italy, which let him re-live all the places they had been.

Ford explained that it was basically an image projector, only with this one could feel and touch and it was infinitely bigger than the room you are actually in.

"Like the TARDIS?"

"Yes Arthur, like the TARDIS."

This projector actually fitted in the form of a digital watch. Ford for some reason found this hilarious.

At this moment in time they were standing alone, in the shadows of the temple of Bakheng ( Phnom). Over grown with nature and the most solitary place in all Angkor Wat, there is peace and quiet here. It is a pyramid mounting in five terraces.

The temple exhumes a potent charm about it, at sunset one can see the huge landscape before them, bathed in a golden hue that makes you feel as if you've found the most perfect spot in the whole world. Here at the summit it is very still. The darkness has lost its intensity; and you stand in godlike isolation on the roof of a world that seems to be floating in the sky.

Ford's very blue eyes stared out at the horizon, his eyes now turn to a more green-gold, it seems to Arthur that Ford's eyes literally draw the sunset in and change their colour. Arthur thinks it's one of the most beautiful things he's ever seen.

Ford's lips have a content smile touching them and beads of sweat trickle down his forehead. Arthur leans over and presses his lips against Ford's temple, the beads now wet his lips, there is a more powerful heat growing inside of Ford.

The noises of the forest landscape can be heared all over.

"Want to take this place with us?"

Ford nodded, Arthur thinks this is the longest time he has ever gone without saying something.

Arthur stores this image of Bakheng at sunset in his image-projector-digital-watch (of which the procedure is too complex to explain.)

"Are you alright?"

Ford's eyes, even though the sun has now set are still fused with sunlight, they are alive and bursting with energy, yet Ford remains lethargic.

"I never thought I'd find a place on this planet that would make me think, but I have, and it's kind of weird, it's so quiet and lonely…"

Ford looks up and smiles, his normal smile upon seeing Arthur's worried face. The worried face relaxes a little.

The sky above has stars tonight, brilliant stars. Ford looks up.

He then looks at Arthur who is fiddling with his watch.

"Still doesn't beat Italy?"

Arthur thinks hard.

"It is unique…like everywhere else."

"That didn't answer my question."

"It's the only answer I can give."

Ford and Arthur cuddle up as the night goes on, the dawn will come, so quietly you won't realise it until it is no longer dark.

SORRY IT'S ABIT SHORT AM SUFFERING FROM A TERRIBLE SUMMER COLD, AND I CAN'T PROPERLY CONCENTRATED, SO LIGHTHEADED!
