Day Two
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------
I could hear my parents talking from my door in the hall. I heard footsteps walking towards my door. I felt James kiss me on the cheek. I slightly opened my eye and leaned over to kiss him lightly on the lips. He moved closer to me and kissed me on the lips again, only this time deeper.
"ROSE!"
James and I sat up in bed and he moved so we weren't touching. "Daddy!"
"Rose!"
"What is it Richard?" asked my mum running into the room. As she spotted James and I she took my father's hand in hers. James fell off the bed and backed away.
"Sir—"
"What were you two doing?" ordered my father.
"We were sleeping!" I said quietly.
"And last night?"
"We just slept together, honest!"
My father closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Rose..."
"We fell asleep while you two were talking about us..."
I stood up and walked towards James and took his hand. "Richard she is eighteen years old."
"I still don't think she's ready."
I shook my head in disbelief. "I've had boyfriends before—"
"Have you slept in the same bed with them?! Not even Petunia and Vernon do that—"
"Stop comparing our children," my mother said calmly. "Put this behind you, and except their relationship. We're going out today to get fitted for our Wedding outfits."
I stole a glance at James who quickly moved towards his trunk. "We best get ready then."
"Separately."
"Of course," I said as my dad left the room. Once he was out of side I burst out laughing.
"It's not funny, Lily. He saw us kissing—"
"So?"
"What are you so-ing for? We were in bed kissing—"
"We weren't touching," I said laughing. "Like we—"
"I'm not stupid enough to do that—"
"I never said you were," I said picking out some clothes and moving towards the door. I picked up some clothing from his trunk and gave it to him. When I pushed him into the hall way I leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. "Go on."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------
"What do you think?" I asked James spinning around in a dress. It was a light blue, sleeveless gown that was very, very form fitting but not revealing.
He laughed, "Can you move in that?"
I pulled him off the chair he was sitting on and put my arms around his neck. We danced around the dressing area while onlookers smiled. I heard two ladies even comment.
"Young love... how sweet."
"My husband never danced me around a store."
From the distance I saw my mother get my father's attention and point at us. His face softened as he looked up at us. I looked down at James' feet.
"Where did you learn how to dance?"
"Sirius," he blushed.
I laughed looking up at has face. "You learned to dance from a guy? Are you sure it wasn't a girlfriend that taught you how to dance?"
"Well..." he grinned looking over my head in thought. "I learned how to dance because I had a dance to the ball in fourth year... after I started maturing, you know? Well... I had to... I had a reputation."
I smiled up at him. "We should have a ball."
"We have one for graduation." I looked at the ground frowning, he titled my chin to look up at him. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing..."
"I know something's wrong..."
"I don't want to leave school," I admitted.
"Why not?" he smiled. "It's a whole world we get to explore after school! We get to go places and start a family..."
I smiled slightly. "I know..."
"That's if you except my apology and become my girlfriend again."
I rested my head against his chest until my mum came over and broke us up.
"Very lovely dress," she commented.
"Brilliant..." added James, receiving a smile from my mum.
"You two like it?" she asked looking between us.
"It's really Lily's choice."
"I like it... but..." I didn't really know how to state my fault. "It's really... blue..."
"Green is too predictable, I think."
"Wow, Lily. James has a sense of fashion," laughed my mum.
I smiled, "He's great..." I said locking hands with him. "When can James and I go out?"
"We're not doing anything tomorrow night," said my mum looking at a dress.
"Will he be okay with it?"
"Who?"
I sighed, "What's wrong with Daddy?"
"He's still a little... iffy on the relationship."
"Does he trust us?" I asked walking into the changing room with her.
She unzipped the dress and shrugged. "Having a boyfriend at school and having a boyfriend at home is two different things... He just... you and James have the freedom at school to... you know, do stuff he doesn't want you to do at home."
"Shag?" I asked quietly; she nodded. "James and I haven't..."
"How long have you two been together?"
"Since Christmas..." I said quietly.
Her eye brows rose, but fell as I put the dress back on the hanger and started putting on my shoes. "You haven't..."
"I wasn't ready," I said looking at the ground. "And James respects that..."
She nodded and bit her bottom lip... "What... what have you done?"
I covered my face in my hands and opened the door, walking out into the store again. "I'd rather not say... Mum that's personal..."
"I won't tell your father..."
"James and I usually don't talk to people about what we do alone," I said shyly walking towards my father who was looking over tuxedos with James. My mother walked over towards my father holding both of our dresses. I stood next to James who smiled at me. I shared a faint smile.
"Here you are, James... try this one on." James took the tux from Dad and walked towards the dressing room... me not far behind.
"Something wrong?" he asked smiling.
"Mum asked me some questions... that's all..."
He looked back at me. "What did she ask?"
"Just personal stuff about me."
"What kind of person stuff?" he asked raising his eye brows.
"I didn't tell her anything... except..."
"Except...?"
"I told her what we haven't done..."
James shot a look back at me and nodded slightly... I could tell he was thinking of what he wanted to say. Instead of saying something he walked towards the changing room and I sat down in the chair he had previously sat in.
"Pumpkin?"
I smiled at my dad who came walking over. "Daddy..."
"I think we should talk about this morning," he said sitting down next to me.
"What's there to say?"
"I think I overreacted a little bit."
I shrugged. "James is okay with you being protective... he felt really bad after you caught us kissing..."
"Maybe it's not that big of a deal. I trust James... he's very intelligent and he cares about you a lot."
I nodded, "I'm growing up, Dad."
"I know that..." His regular blue eyes looked soft and more caring. "I'm sorry that I compared you to your sister. But you must understand Lily that you've become a lot more outgoing than your sister. Vernon was her first boyfriend... she choose very carefully and she was always worrying about her future...
"You on the other hand have somehow managed to keep up with it all. Best grades, good friends, Head Girl... a charming boyfriend. I guess I wasn't ready for you to get a serious boyfriend. It's been quite difficult having one daughter who started dating now, at twenty... and having one who started dating years ago at fourteen."
I nodded, "But there's a difference. Petunia is getting married and I'm not."
"Not now..."
I smiled, "Why are you so afraid of losing me?"
"I'm not afraid of losing you... I know that you can make your own decisions... It's all happening at once." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Petunia's leaving and you're going to leave soon... I guess you're right... I am afraid of losing you..."
I looked up at him. "You're not losing me... Mum's not losing me... we're all gaining James."
He smiled and pulled me into a hug. "I guess you're right Lily flower."
I kissed his cheek. "Thank you."
He nodded standing up. He didn't even have to ask why I was thanking him. Because I was thanking him for everything. For the support, for being a grand father, for caring enough to try to protect me, for letting James and I be together... for being there for me and sharing magic far beyond spells and potions...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------
"A successful day of shopping," my mother announced passing James the bowl of salad.
"Lily let me see your dress," ordered Petunia who was sitting next to Vernon.
"It's upstairs with James' tux," I answered lazily.
"Are you honestly letting them sleep in the same room?" asked Petunia receiving a reproachful look from Vernon. James and I shared a little look. "Vernon and I don't even sleep in the same room..."
"That's why James is in Lily's room," answered my father receiving shocking looks from everyone but me; I snorted into my salad.
"You approve of their relationship, father?"
"Of course," he answered dully.
"Mother!?"
She shrugged her shoulders. "Pass the dressing, will you, James?"
"Certainly," he said smiling. "I was wondering if Lily was free to go out tomorrow for a brunch... or dinner... Mr. Evans."
My father looked up from his soup. "Of course, by all means. She could use some fresh air, right Lily flower?"
I shared a look with my father who smiled back. "Ugh! This is ridiculous!" exclaimed Petunia throwing her napkin on the table and walking up, as calmly as she could to her room.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------
I took my wand out and extended the couch to make a more fitting bed for James. He came in from the bathroom wearing boxers and a t-shirt.
"I thought you didn't like Muggle clothing."
"And I thought your father didn't want us being within twenty feet of each other alone."
"We talked," I said sitting on his bed and turning off the television that was on my dresser. "He told me why he didn't really like you and I together."
James sat down next to me, propping his head on the pillow and yawning. "Why's that?"
"He was afraid that he was going to lose me."
"Really?" he asked sitting up.
I pushed him down onto the bed again and lightly kissed him. "Yes, but I told him he wasn't losing me... he was gaining you."
James leaned up to kiss me again. "Did he say why he compared you to Petunia, earlier today?"
"Mmmhmmm. He said it was because Petunia started dating now with a serious boyfriend... and so did I. Whilst I'm eighteen and she's almost twenty one."
James nodded as I laid my head on his chest and felt his arm go around me. "Hmmhmm?" I looked up from James' and towards the door. "Getting ready for bed?"
"Yes," I answered my father. "I was just helping James fix up his bed."
"This looks a lot bigger than I remember."
I twirled my wand in my fingers and my father smiled. I stood up and grabbed my pajamas from the dresser top and walked over to my dad. "Goodnight," I said giving him a kiss goodnight and walking into the bathroom.
When I walked back into the room James was staring at the ceiling; he looked up when I closed my door and locked it.
"I think I woke up Vernon," I said quietly.
"Pity," he said smiling as I laid my head back on his chest, resting my hand on his toned stomach.
"Have I told you how much I love you, lately?"
"What's the occasion?" he asked grinning.
"No reason... I just find myself incredibly attracted to you right now."
His grinned grew as I leaned down kissing him. As our kisses grew he moved out from under me and pulled himself closer and on top of me. The moonlight shone through the window and the whole house fell silent. I could hear James' heart beat as he kissed me. When he broke apart from our kiss the outside world came back into my vision.
"We can't do this Lily."
"We're just kissing," I said searching his eyes with him.
"Your father—"
"The door is locked," I said leaning up to kiss him.
"You're not wanting to..." he questioned me without words.
I looked away from him and stared at the wall. I... Am I ready? This question is no easier to answer now then it was weeks ago when I first asked it. He ran his hand through my hair and I looked back up into his eyes.
"I love you, James. But..."
His hand ran down the side of my body and I shivered. What the hell? It's not morally right... James and I aren't together... but we will be, I argued with myself.
"I love you," he said kissing my neck. I pulled his shirt over his head and threw it across the room leaning up and kissing him. He and I shared a smile and I took a deep breath.
"Okay..."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------
A/N: I can't believe I'm doing that... but I am... Oh well... I sat there for ten minutes thinking of if I should make her say yes or no. Then I picture James... and WOW... not to sound shallow but he loves her and they're alone in a bedroom... (lol) I amuse myself... oh well... I did it... Look... I didn't describe anything... because I don't think it's appropriate for me to, do you?
